"𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕!" - Futurist Jim Carroll

Have you heard everyone saying things like: "𝑊ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑖𝑡 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑡𝑜 𝑛𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑙?" or "𝑊ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑛𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑙" lately?

    What if it doesn't?

What if you end up waiting a long time?

While everyone else has been waiting around wondering what the heck has been going on, I've been going on. Yesterday, my wife and business partner of 35+ years uploaded my newest book, 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏: 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝑩𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒚 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔, to Amazon and Barnes & Noble. We'll be a few days before we can get out "check copies" - making sure everything is correct and looks good - and then we are in print!

Today marks 73 days since I wrote the first blog post in the series that became the book. So while you've been waiting for normal, I've been making bold! Want to get out of the waiting? Hit sample.dancing.jimcarroll.com and you'll get the first two chapters of the book delivered to your inbox. In seconds. What are you waiting for? Isn't stopping the waiting for the whole point?

Get your sample chapters right now - simply submit, and send.

    Visit https://sample.dancing.jimcarroll.com

What do you need to be thinking about? I'll just share the Foreword to the book. It will give you a sense of where I go with it.

    Read it.

    Then grab the sample chapters.

    Get out of waiting.

    Get out of normal.

    Get into bold!

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀, 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘌𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺.

I often get asked about the inspiration behind these two books. At its heart, it's a deep dive into a question I've wrestled with for years: 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘴 𝘶𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭?

These aren't your typical self-help books. I designed them to be profoundly fun yet powerfully insightful, challenging you to rethink your approach to achievement without getting bogged down in complex theory. They offer a unique perspective on recognizing the often unconscious "gravitational pull of the ordinary" and then, critically, how to break free. They're meant to be revisited, pondered, and used to continuously challenge your own thinking.

They are getting a fantastic reaction from those who have read them!

If you've ever felt stuck, or wondered what's truly possible for you, I invite you to explore the integrated approach these books offer to finding your path forward. After sampling, you can find the full books on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or visit the Mediocrity Website for more details.

"𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑐𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒!" - Futurist Jim Carroll

One of my main messages yesterday during my keynote was that you need to make the most of the moment if you have one. If a wide variety of trends are suddenly coming together - which they are for medical device technology as they are for many other industries - then you have to move at the speed of the trends. This is a message I often share while on stage.

In that context, I've also been doing a final proofread of 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏 - I suspect we are days away from release. And in one of the chapters, I saw one of the phrases I wrote - "𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑐𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒." When you write tens of thousands of words, you sometimes forget the wisdom you wove into just a few of those words.

With that in mind, here's what you need to think about.

    You need to commit.

You need to have a compelling sense of urgency.

You have to decide to move forward, not back.

You should have a sense that RIGHT NOW is the right time.

You must be ready to act decisively.

    You need to make decisions.

You need to move with the trends as they mature, not as they fade.

    Do things. Now.

Get it done - because why should you wait?

Kill indecision - otherwise, it will kill you.

Start doing. Action is better than stasis.

Act faster - because your world is.

Volatility is normal - learn from it.

Think faster. Don't wait for perfect information.

    Act more. Momentum is valuable.

Change is inevitable - Indecisiveness isn't.

    Because waiting is fatal.

Agility, innovation, and execution are key.

    ---

Futurist Jim Carroll admits to having never understood indecision.

"Precision, prediction, and possibility - this is the future of care." - Futurist Jim Carroll

I'm off to speak at an event today that combines the themes of personalized and predictive medicine, medical device technology, and the future of manufacturing. It should be a great event!

As I open my upcoming keynote, one of the first visuals I’ll be sharing highlights a core message: medical device transformation and disruption are accelerating—fast.
This slide sets the stage with four key forces driving this transformation:

Changing relationship with personal health circumstances. Patients are becoming active participants in their care. With wearables, digital health platforms, and real-time data, individuals are managing their wellness proactively, not reactively.

New manufacturing design, development, and time-to-market methodologies. Technologies like 3D printing and additive manufacturing are collapsing innovation cycles. Rapid prototyping and agile development mean devices can move from concept to reality faster than ever before.

Acceleration of medical science. Breakthroughs in areas like genomics, bioengineering, and regenerative medicine are reshaping what’s possible in care. The speed of discovery is feeding directly into smarter, more adaptive devices.

Medical device intelligence. We’re now embedding AI into the very fabric of medical devices. These tools are no longer passive: they’re predictive, responsive, and increasingly autonomous in their ability to assist care decisions.

This is the convergence of diagnostics, therapeutics, and innovation.

And it supports the idea I’ll emphasize throughout the keynote:

“Precision, prediction, and possibility—this is the future of care.”

Who knows. I might be dancing in the rain!

(What a stage! But that's not me - that's something undeniably powerful from Ideogram.AI!)

Lots of folks are struggling. For countless people, 2025 has proven to be a less-than-magical year.

In that context, have you ever thought one of the best ways to give yourself some hope is by giving some back? That you can best move forward by helping others do the same?

Let's think about the power of kindness.

There's something undeniably powerful in hope. You can spend a small moment to spark a belief in someone else that there is a brighter future, and maybe encourage them to take their next step.

There's something undeniably powerful in truth. In an error in which it is becoming in short supply, staking a moral ground truth and encouraging others to do so can, in the long run, help lay the groundwork for real solutions and progress.

There's something undeniably powerful in empathy. When you spend more time understanding another perspective and showing that you care, you will give someone the exact support they need.

There's something undeniably powerful in vulnerability. When you dare to share your own experiences openly, you will encourage others to trust you and seek the help they need.

There's something undeniably powerful in kindness. At this moment in time, extending a helping hand or a thoughtful gesture can directly brighten someone's day.

There's something undeniably powerful in giving. Whether it's your time, resources, or funds, know that you always have the chance to make a tangible difference in someone's life.

There's something undeniably powerful in patience. Knowing that everyone is in a different stage on their journey, and so offering them the support of waiting can encourage them to keep going.

There's something undeniably powerful in trust. If you take a moment to show confidence in the abilities of others, you will be empowered. them to act and succeed on their own.

There's something undeniably powerful in forgiveness. The simple fact is, that we all make mistakes, and the act will allow others to move forward from past hurts and achieve what they need to.

There's something undeniably powerful in listening. In an era in which everyone is shouting, taking the time to truly hear what someone else is saying, shows the respect they might need at this difficult moment.

There's something undeniably powerful in purpose. Because you will find meaning in serving others, turning your good intentions into impactful actions.

There's something undeniably powerful in all of us.

Futurist Jim Carroll has always found that there is something powerful in writing.

"Be the architect of your future, not a prisoner of your past!" - Futurist Jim Carroll

Let's do a test on future readiness!

You should be ready for disruption, change, innovation, creativity!

Answer these questions honestly. This will help you assess if you are ready to do what it takes for tomorrows world, instead of being trapped in todays:

    1. Do I actively observe trends to anticipate what's coming and how to respond?
    2. Do I view future trends as opportunities rather than threats?
    3. Do I cultivate the habit of thinking differently about my world?
    4. Do I learn from my experiences and adapt my approach?
    5. Do I see my ability to evolve through new ideas as crucial for my growth?
    6. Do I adapt in line with the speed of changes that surrounds me?
    7. Do I abandon past thinking and focus enthusiastically on the future?
    8. Do I take action instead of deferring decisions indefinitely?
    9. Do I build experiential capital through calculated risks and new experiences?
    10. Do I prepare for rapid innovation and quick execution?
    11. Do I know the major trends affecting my career path?
    12. Do I accept volatility as normal and structure myself accordingly?
    13. Do I make things happen, or do I often find myself reacting to events?
    14. Do I focus on growth and opportunity over current limitations?
    15. Do I regularly re-evaluate my goals given changing circumstances?
    16. Do I create excitement and purpose in my daily life?
    17. Do I immerse myself in discovering and applying new ideas globally?
    18. Do I embrace diverse perspectives to foster my creativity?
    19. Do I ask tough questions that challenge my assumptions?
    20. Do I consistently innovate and look for new ways to do things in my life?
    21. Do I regularly break old habits that hinder progress?
    22. Do I focus on transforming my future over regretting the past?
    23. Do I plan for future unknowns rather than ignoring them?
    24. Do I cultivate imagination and initiative for personal transformation?
    25. Do I approach the future with optimism and a belief in my ability to adapt

Giving honest answers to these issues will really help you assess your career path when it comes to some of the most important skills of our time.

Do you have what it takes to be the architect of your own future, knowing what's required as a foundation?

With the pre-order availability of my book 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙞𝙣: 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝘽𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙮 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 , I'm celebrating with a new bookstore!

𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀.𝗕𝘆.𝗝𝗶𝗺𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺 will take you straight to all the other tiles I've written in the last two decades. Order a copy, I'll sign it, and ship to you ASAP!

Across more than 20 years, I’ve explored everything from personal resilience to digital transformation.

Here’s the collection—each one part of the journey leading to this latest work:

𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝘽𝙞𝙜, 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙎𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙡, 𝙎𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙨𝙩: 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙧𝙪𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 shares the stories of what I've seen leaders and organizations do to align to our faster, disruptive world.

There are my two brand new books 𝙀𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮 & 𝙀𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮 - you definitely want these!

My reinvention book! 𝙉𝙤𝙬 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩? 𝙍𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 & 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙊𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙞𝙣 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 will give you the pathway you need to find your NEXT opportunity.

Disruption? How about 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙏𝙤 𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙨𝙩: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙅𝙞𝙢𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙡.𝙘𝙤𝙢, with what you need to align to the era of acceleration.

Innovation? Grab 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙎𝙚𝙩 𝘿𝙤𝙣𝙚: 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙁𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙁𝙖𝙨𝙩 will provide you insight on why innovation is a bigger opportunity that you think it is.

And the original book on disruptive ideas? 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙨: 𝙎𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. Because if you don't get out of that road, there's gonna' be a big problem and its going to be ugly!

All of these works helped shape my view on how leaders can steer through chaos.

Keep in mind that I'm not the Jim Carroll, author of the 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙚𝙩𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝘿𝙞𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙉𝙤𝙙𝙨 and other books. He was also the lead for the 𝙅𝙞𝙢 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙡 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙙, with the iconic punk anthem, 𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝘿𝙞𝙚𝙙. Unfortunately, he died, in 2011.

Which brings us to 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙞𝙣. It’s a hard-earned playbook on navigating volatility with speed, resilience, experimentation—and a refusal to stand still

Every pre‑ordered copy ships from me, with a personal signature and a message of leadership for stormy times. Let’s stop waiting for clarity. Let’s learn to lead through the chaos—and dare greatly while we’re at it.

"Every good moment of uncertainty demands the certainty of action!" - Futurist Jim Carroll

You can pre-order Dancing in the Rain effective today!

I've got a final, print-ready manuscript in my hands, which needs a final read-through before we commit to it. I'm waiting for my cover guy to finish off the cover. After that, a few more buttons to hit, and we are good to go. There are a few logistical hurdles to get through, in that the team that works with me (aka family) has a few other commitments (aka day jobs) that take precedence. It will at least be by July - I am hoping for sooner.

    What a wild voyage!

The actual date that I started the blog series was April 7, so it will turn out to be just a little more than 2 months from the time I conceived of the idea of the book to its release.

Think about where we were just two months ago. The insanity of the reality of a global trade war was setting in; markets were uncertain; and clarity was lacking. And if it isn't evident to you yet, all the signs are there that we are already in the midst of what will be a rather prolonged and significant economic retraction.

That's why I decided that what I needed to do was begin to summarize everything I had learned, observed, and researched about how companies and executives responded to previous periods of economic decline. In the previous decades, I had developed a LOT of insight into the criticality of innovation through a recession; of staying relentlessly focused on growth; and on finding opportunity while everyone else was retrenching. I had a significant amount of material on the strategies, mindsets, actions, and undertakings of those who were bold enough to not just focus on the challenges of today, but to double down on the opportunities of tomorrow.

So I began writing. And writing. And writing.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I had a book in there. I remember the night I was out for an after-dinner walk with my wife, and I carefully broached the fact that I was 'doing another one.' Keep in mind that she - as my business partner and editor - was still immersed in the process of getting my book Escaping Mediocrity out the door. This came after a fast project to get the other book, Embracing Mediocrity in print. All during this time, she was taking on the role of Treasurer and going back on the Board of a charity for special needs young adults that we are heavily involved with. She was none too thrilled but knows me all too well.

And so here we are. I practice what I preach. The core message of the book is that every crisis demands that we don't freeze but act. That we don't suddenly go into a state of indecision, but move forward decisively. While everyone else is focused on the current moment, we need to prepare for the next one.

That while others are doing what they can to avoid the storm, we need to go out into it with full determination, and dance.

I hope you will do a pre-order. We've worked tremendously hard to get to this point, and I am eager to get what I think is one of my best books (this one being #43 I think) into your hands!

    Dance!

    Pre-orders are officially LIVE!

I'm incredibly excited to announce that my new book, "𝐷𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑅𝑎𝑖𝑛: 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝐵𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝐿𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝐺𝑟𝑜𝑤 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟 𝑖𝑛 𝑆𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑦 𝑇𝑖𝑚𝑒𝑠," is now available for pre-order, with delivery expected in July 2025!

For over 30 years, I've had the privilege of guiding organizations through disruption and change, witnessing firsthand that "the future does not wait for the cautious. It belongs to the bold". This book distills decades of insight into a practical blueprint for leaders navigating today's complex world.

"Dancing in the Rain" challenges the conventional wisdom that "the best thing to do is to hunker down and wait it out" during uncertainty. Instead, it champions the idea that "the smartest strategy is to 'just say no' to the narrative" of pessimism, and that "mindset is the first move" to seizing opportunity.

This book is EXACTLY what you need right now!

You'll learn why "the future accelerates toward those who refuse to stand still", and how to cultivate the resilience to "dance in the rain" by embracing action, driving innovation, and transforming challenges into growth opportunities. This book is your roadmap to not just survive, but to truly thrive, when the skies grow dark.

Pre-order your copy today and get ready to lead stronger in stormy times!

I'm learning to make little cartoons. Pity my family!

Anyway, with that in mind, I'm thrilled to announce that we got an ISBN for 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏 yesterday, so we are pretty close to being in print! I celebrated by putting together a little cartoon that showed my patience through the process.

I've also been tracking the weather for this weekend for a wedding shower for some good family friends. It's been looking like rain, but the forecast suddenly started to look better. I created a little cartoon to share this good news with my close friends.

All of this has come about as I continue to relentlessly explore the creative opportunities that are AI. (I haven't even touched on the massive explosion of creative innovation occurring with AI video. Suffice it to say, that the Bible, Titanic, and Star Wars will never be the same. If you are on social media, you will know.)

What is the point of all this? I continue to learn new skills, exploring the depths of opportunity and challenge with all the new technologies that surround us. This brings me to the point of today's post - I spent a little bit of time yesterday, pulling together this PDF and website - 101 Learnings for a Better Life. It's a series of lessons that I've worked to summarize over time that tries to summarize my approach to things. It's at betterlife.jimcarroll.com

I would encourage you to read it and share it - you might find some optimism among the gloom that seems to be a big part of our world today. And in fact, that's the origin of today's quote - because our future truly is a canvas of endless opportunity! I asked ChatGPT to summarize my 101 learnings and that is what it came back with!

Oh, and if you would like a personal little 6-frame cartoon with my 'little guy', send me a message with what you are looking for!

"Slow innovation, timid ideas, process over imagination, small-minded thinking, diminished ambition: these are the signs of an abandoned future."- Futurist Jim Carroll

So Apple had their big developer conference the other day. This is the event where they lay out their plans for the coming year and the future about software, hardware, and new lines of business.

And it seems it was an entirely ho-hum affair - essentially consisting of a new software design (that many are panning), scaling back their AI efforts, and introducing a few new features here and there, This is from the company that reinvented the phone, music, computer and other industries with bold visions, a fundamentally new technology that reimagined entire industries.

Apple finds itself trapped in what I call the "innovation plateau paradox" – having achieved such extraordinary success with revolutionary products like the iPhone and iPad that subsequent releases inevitably feel incremental by comparison.

    Way back in 2014, I wrote a document - 25 Trends for 2025.

What was trend **#24** for 2025 on the list? I suggested this:

    ---
    Apple is delisted

Once one of the world’s most innovative, cash-rich, highly valued company, Apple enters a new phase in 2025 when it is delisted from most global stock markets.

    Why?

Most industry leaders never survive; there is always someone with a better idea.

It’s the age-old rule of business: incumbency is not a guarantee!

    ----

Tongue in cheek, my main point was that eventually, unless they keep relentlessly focused on creative innovation, every company eventually fumbles, makes mistakes, loses its mojo, and starts to fall behind. (Check out trend **#25** on my list from 2014 - it's kind of fun! And I did a full analysis of my prediction from 2014 in a post last December.)

That's where some people are pointing out how Apple seems to be drowning. Sure, it's had stunning innovation in the last few years, particularly with its staggeringly fast and extremely powerful new Mx-computer chips. But the rest? It's stumbled badly on AI, abandoned a long-running effort to get into the car industry, and failed with the mass consumer market launch of its VisionPro headset.

The real challenge isn't just about creating the "next big thing," but about maintaining innovative momentum when you've already transformed entire industries.

When it's one big announcement is something like "liquid glass," you have to wonder.
    ----
Futurist Jim Carroll is working hard at working to make trend **#25** on his original 25 Trends for 2025 list (that he wrote in 2014) come true.

"Most people don't recognize the depths of their failure until long after they've been in there." - Futurist Jim Carroll"

So the question on most people's minds is - when will all of this end?

Go on, admit it. If you are like most people who follow me and read these daily posts, you get up every morning and check the news to see if a certain event has transpired.

    So far, no.

And you check again the next day.

    And the next.

    So where are we now?

    What's the path out?

No one knows. But I do know it will take quite some time. I've long learned through observation that most people don't understand they're on the wrong path until it's far too late. CEOs always believe they are invincible until the wreckage of their company surrounds them - Jim Balsillie of Blackberry fame comes to mind, and as of late, Elon Musk. Star athletes keep on trying and trying, failing ever more frequently as their body begins to fail them, never quite accepting the reality of their condition. Alcoholics and addicts always face a tortuous path to acceptance of their condition. Entire nations become convinced they can follow a path of destroying their economy to "improve" it.

Anyways, here we are. What's interesting to think about is how this unfolds from here.

What we are dealing with is what we might call "delayed failure recognition." What's that? It's a cold, hard truth that there is often some seriously twisted wiring in the human brains of folks around us, with the impact that they are often blind to their demise. Simply put, the typical logic of failure acceptance is non-existent.

Let's break down the psychological landmines that is "delayed failure recognition.....

    Tin soldiers and Nixon coming
    We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drumming
    Four dead in Ohio
Gotta get down to it, soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been gone long ago
What if you knew her and found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?
