My second computer came with a _set of three manuals_ - and they were kinda interesting. After that, I never got a manual when I bought a computer after this one. It was a Spring Circle Super Turbo Computer, and it had these manuals.

They are super interesting, and if anyone wants to have them to scan them and make sure are on the Internet for perpetuity, DM me, and I will mail them.

The only think @kde 's Kate needs to be the perfect distraction-free writing tool is margins -- I want to squash the lines from left and right so I have column in the middle that's easy to read.

@skinnylatte Yeah... But still. I was there in this Nokia team thing, and the Korean girl begged to go to the best Korean restaurant in Berlin, and she was absolutely delighted. It was grill sukiyaki-like.

And I wasn't exactly overwhelmd.I didn't feel like I had a superior taste or something, it was just not for me.

@skinnylatte Over here, in Deventer, the Netherlands, the restaurants and shops tend to go for the bit more than necessary plastic tub gochujang. You wanna get an oily slap in the face? Take our spicy fried chicken! And the toko only has the most default stuff to cook with....

This is a Dutch provincial town with 100k inhabitants

So I go to the good Viet, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian restaurants, or I cook all of that for myself.

@skinnylatte Korean stuff is overtaking my Toko Kim Lan in an alarming way. I've never been able to get into Korean cuisine for I don't know what reason.

I was taken to the best Korean restaurant in Berlin by a Korean Nokia colleague, and she was gushing over how good it all was -- and I just didn't like the flavor profile.

To me, it was all boom, bash, whoom, fat and spice, so I smiled politely and told her it was very interesting.

Couple of encounters after that, and I still am like that :(

@sortius @skinnylatte I was offered one when walking around with a Nokia colleague/friend in Bangalore. He craved one after a dosa dinner, and we went to a street stall in an alley.

I chickened out, though, because I was afraid what my (Dutch) dentist would say when I got back.

Also, I've never been good with chewey stuff you need to spit out, for some reason.

I was served this dosa by the chef who was like, I will provisionally deign you worth the honor of trying this, but only because you ordered the right one.

And my hosts were all anxious -- will she like it? or not? -- but yeah, one taste, memories for forever.

Such lovely people, such a pity I won't ever meet them again.

@skinnylatte I kinda have that with two things I got to eat in Bengaluru: dosa and idli.

Friends took me to a fancy dosa restaurant there and told me to get the plainest dosa they offered. And it was bliss. Total bliss.

Other friends invited me to their place, because they had heard me rave about my hotel's idli.

And gave me theirs.

I am a pretty good cook, but I've never dared attempt either dosa or idli.

And I'll never go on an aeroplane again, so I'll have to make do with memories.

Hey, @frameworkcomputer -- since you like big tents, you should also welcome krita, even if the maintainer is a trans woman.

After all, you use Krita in your 12 laptop page...

Don't get too excited, because this is a prototype (by Timothée Giet) and isn't connected to #krita itself. But... You can get a feel of the way the workflow goes. I was really satisfied playing with it on my phone.

@skinnylatte I remember, in the late eighties, when I had just started to learn Mandarin, seeing a guy with ... peng? what? I guess it was meant to be pengyou, but no, no, no...

Where did those travesties of hanzi come from?

Only later did I learn about tattoo example books.

Yes, I know about the insectocalypse. And when we started living here in 2007, we had a fly swatter in every room -- and we needed them.

But, today, mid-June, I heard this summer's first fly.

I grew up with "three things are inevitable: death, taxes, flies."

And I now kinda feel that flies are... Mostly gone?

I don't think it's all because of our diligent swatting...
