I'm sick of people saying it's easier to imagine the end of the world than it is to imagine the end of #capitalism. I think about the end of capitalism every day. Today I imagined what it would be like to live in a community that valued me for being present rather than "useful" or "productive." In that world, I think I would spend a lot more time taking care of plants. I would tell stories when I felt like it, instead of on deadline. What do you imagine? #imaginetheendofcapitalism

Rick spent decades collecting industrial films and home movies (many digitized at Archive.org), and every year he narrates a movie-length memoir of the San Francisco Bay Area, culled from his collection. There are home movies from the 20s, plus rare footage of an old train line on the Bay Bridge and an underground club in El Cerrito. So good!

I'm old enough to remember when Yahoo! Groups unceremoniously nuked every single LGBT mailing list overnight, leaving people completely untethered from communities they had relied on and loved. When that happened, we got angry at Yahoo. And yet when people flee from Twitter, anger is directed at those "defectors". Twitter is not a country, and we were not its citizens. It is a corporation. If Twitter is driving people away, it's Twitter's fault. It's not our job to fix it. #noxp

A very simple psyop unfolds on Twitter. CCP hackers in China appear to have activated a bunch of dormant accounts and are using them to flood protest-related hashtags with porn. If you look for news about protests in various Chinese cities, about half the content will be porn -- and earlier, it was much higher.
