Are there any great ways to self-host a Misskey or other *key instance with NixOS?

I know services.mastodon but am specifically asking about Misskey and its forks.

Another instance I was using, shuttered without warning. :neobot_sad:

I'm tired of abruptly and irrecoverably losing whole friend circles and all the fun I had talking on it.

If you run an instance and are planning to shutter it, please be kind and:
- Give clear warnings about it both well ahead of time and repeat those warnings regularly until final shutdown;
- Don't give warnings exclusively from accounts that aren't on the actual server;
- Make use of the Announcements feature where available; and
- Disable signups at the planning stage so that new users aren't onboarded onto a doomed instance.

I understand that running an instance is a significant undertaking which comes at real monetary cost, and that instances are operated out of the good will of the administrators, but please try to offer these kindnesses to mitigate the emotional impact on your users from the shutdown.

How could I tell if I was being defederated? Does it show up anywhere, could I infer it from clues, or would someone in the know have to tell me?

Dad came by, and his diagnosis is that the 12V battery is discharged. And the reason for that is that since my parents moved I no longer make long car trips regularly...

He'll come by on Friday with a 12V charger. Hopefully the battery isn't discharged to the point of damage :btr_bocchi_pray:

I'm most interested in playing it with mods but it'd be good to see it working vanilla too.

:02Calc: For now I've just left everything as default and used whatever live chat that Owncast comes with out of the box-- I haven't researched it at all, or for that matter what options exist within OBS.

I've been streaming a bit with #Owncast and #OBSStudio and also recording the same video to use as VODs. But those video files of course don't include any kind of live chat replay.

Is there a way to make some format of self-hosted VODs available with live chat replay?
