Old Man with Cat

Ms. Pipa (the neighbor's cat) comes around for treats and attention occasionally. Her latest thing is to stop by on her way back home after a day of exploring, cry for attention (at our back door), and then when we open said door, even if we offer her her favorite treat, ignore us and walk off. She's a cat.

Recliner chair. It's supposed to be my reading chair, but I read a few pages, close the book to think about what I've read, and wake up an hour later.

Don't get much reading done, but I'm really well rested.

FWIW, here's my take.

0: "AI" means three things nowadays: neural nets, machine learning, and LLM stuff. They are different things.
1: There was a paper in Science last year in which Materials Science types were doing some seriously kewl work on systems with 5 different metals using "machine learning" (gradient descent search in high dimensional spaces). And calling it AI.
2: The Econ. grad student didn't understand this and thought they were doing LLM stuff. Oops.
