@ekis You're doing an awesome job, making something really great means making yourself vulnerable. You put your heart and soul into your music, then I roll onto Mastodon and get to enjoy it for free, so thanks for being brave and putting it out there!

@ekis I love this. Sad glitchy stuff with a driving beat, absolutely perfect for gloomy winter

@jwildeboer Just to be clear, I'm not American either (nor am I European). My point was, I think the motivation was a growing awareness amongst the political class of the political power of social media, and a desire not to have a tool like that in the hands of China (was a similar one used by Russia? Who knows, but if it was, then it would be obvious that it works)
Also sorry if I came of as condescending, I'm still getting used to character limits.

@jwildeboer You don't think there could be a national security concern behind the ban? To argue from the least controversial evidence, most people would agree that Trump won his first term because of Twitter (and other internet fora).
If you were in the US Government, wouldn't you be concerned that a poorly understood and politically influential tool like that was in the hands of a major geopolitical rival?
Looking at this as a data privacy issue is a bit parochial.
