English towns without a Wetherspoons, you say?
*cracks knuckles*
There are *62* towns/cities in England without a Wetherspoons!
Here's the big SQL query: <https://gist.github.com/amandasaurus/ef012e3b68113e4eae0479747a6600f2>

Here's a list of the 62 towns/cities in England without a Wetherspoons.
Because the gods like to mock the English, the first few place names are the most english ever: Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Cirencester, etc 🤣

This is a geo question
i know this
me when I see a osm data question
awww yeah. 😎💪💫 After a few years, I've given in and added support for waterway relations in #WaterwayMapOrg code.
Notice how the Rhein, Elbe & Danube are all connected up as a single feature with the same name? It's using the `name` tag from the relation to match them up.
this is preview, WWM code will update haha soon enough. This'll mostly be useful for the River database list.

oh yay, the Amazon is back.
People are suggesting reporting a bug on Google Maps for the “Gulf of America” name, and I can't help but think that's completely pointless.
Maybe for many things, there's automated “too many errors reported” systems, but I betcha there's a special exception for “Gulf of America”, to ignore that.
Google can (do?) get billions of dollars in government money. They're gonna autoignore all your error reports rather than risk losing that.
If you want to do something, stop using google maps!
oh are people discovering that there are downsides to having your maps run by one giant corporation, which is willing to bend to the extreme right's latest baby tantrums?
c'mon folks, there is an alternative! You can own your maps yourself! 😁😁
Wanna help make #maps of #waterways from #OpenStreetMap? #WaterwayMapOrg now includes a first attempt at data export for you.

I'd like people to try it out and give me feedback on that data, how it's structured, etc. Is this the best format/layout?
Share the maps you make please. 🙂
#OpenStreetMap data is released under a share-alike licence¹, and that hasn't stopped it succeeding as the to-go global geo datasource. 💪

¹ i'm simplifying
I mean #ansible is great and all that. But I so often find myself replacing an individual ansible task with a little snippet of #bash shell script.
2024 and shell scripts still kicking ass
New WaterwayMap.org maps! Big Thick Rivers, in map form! The more upstreams a river has, the thicker the line on that map. It's the standard “Natural Waterways (downhills)” view, but *BETTER*.

New #WaterwayMapOrg feature!
The names of rivers are now shown in the river mouth (“ends”) map & data

So, is there gonna be a State of the Map Europe 2025 then? 🥹 :openstreetmap:
The large, well organised German OSM Community has already planned it's annual 2025 Conference (#fossgis #fossgis2025 ) @FOSSGISeV

@clacke sounds like https://qntm.org/mmacevedo
Conversely, you aren't paying for #OpenStreetMap, and you aren't the product. You're part of a global community to liberate maps. 😊😊
