It just occurred to me that weeding is just like debugging. The point of gardening isn't the weeding, it's the plants you want to grow. Just like the point of coding isn't debugging, it's writing the code you want to run. Yet both weeding and debugging take up a lot of the time of gardening and programming.

@cstross I got into computers in the late 80s, when 5 1/4" were on their way out and 3 1/2" floppies were on their way in. Never encountered an 8" that was being used IRL.
