@lzg You seemed so charmed by the weird little Bodum I expected it to be that. But you said it has to be beautiful, which isn't exactly the same thing as quirky and charming...
This one is very pleasing, especially the proportions of the base and the curve. And the spout and handle are nice--simple but not basic, and retro without making a big thing about how cool and retro they are.

@lzg or is this a personal anecdote? (I took "listening to a story" in the audiobook sense) In that case even better. As long as I don't have to read the resulting novel.

@lzg well done. I've been persuaded (people said they were really good) to read two books where a good chunk of the story was the author working out his young-woman fantasies, and I'm still pissed about both of them.

@lzg I have my doubts about "guy who tries to explain it to you" tbh
The closest I got was quasi-absorbing some of it while having fun reading Cixous and Kristeva (especially the parts where they subtly heaped shade on each other), and I felt like that was enough.

@lzg also I don't know what book you're talking about and maybe there are extenuating circumstances, but my Midwestern heart is aghast at that level of fuss-making over something so common and personal.

@lzg To be fair, probably any baby can be that fascinating if you're willing and also obligated to pay close attention to it for hours every day...
