BREAKING: This morning in Atlanta, Georgia authorities raided a home with a SWAT team to arrest 3 organizers of a bail fund used to help #StopCopCity protesters get out of jail.
The raid comes ~3 months after members of @AtlSolFund, including Kautz, announced they'd learned the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) planned to charge them under Georgia’s state-level RICO statute:
“The Atlanta Solidarity Fund has existed for seven years with the sole purpose of providing resources to protestors experiencing repression,” said Atlanta Solidarity Fund members in a press release. “We ensure their rights are respected through the criminal justice system..."

While the pandemic continues, the US govt has opted to end most direct measures to help its people.
NEW: During the month of May, the City of Minneapolis has been busy evicting encampments of unhoused people, displacing hundreds and throwing away many people’s only belongings. Minneapolis Police (MPD) displaced about 80 unhoused people on East Franklin Avenue in South Minneapolis on May 10. Each week since, they’ve evicted several smaller camps erected from those displaced from the Franklin Ave. sweep, continuing a punishing and deadly cycle.
In a motion hearing seeking a new trial for convicted murderer Brian Kjellberg, defense attorney Earl Gray called the Black foreman of the jury “racist” and was granted a Schwartz hearing. In late March, Kjellberg was found guilty by a jury of second-degree murder without intent for killing Arnell ‘AJ’ Stewart outside Kjellberg’s St. Paul home.
Georgia prosecutors have hit 3 people with felonies threatening 20 years in prison because they allegedly handed out flyers in the neighborhood of state trooper Jonathan Salcedo, notifying his neighbors that he was involved in killing a climate activist.
Ten years ago today, May 10, 2013, Minneapolis Police hunted, cornered and "executed" Terrance Franklin in an Uptown Minneapolis basement. 30 minutes later, a squad car killed a motorcyclist named Ivan Romero-Oliveras. Officers faced zero consequences. Ten years later and with at least eleven more victims, Minneapolis Police continue to utilize the same violent practices, racist techniques, and cover-ups with the same officers.
NEW: In Oct. 2022, Mississippi police fatally shot fifteen-year-old Jaheim McMillan in the head outside of a Family Dollar. Since the incident, protests demanding video footage, accountability, and justice have been ongoing. In the leadup to a larger planned Feb. 4 “Arrest My Murderer” block party and demonstration, Gulfport police arrested five activists on Thursday, Feb. 2 at a protest at the City Hall, initially charging them with up to a dozen offenses.
At least 400 are now marching through the streets of Atlanta. There is also a rally happening in #Minneapolis, #Minnesota for Tort with 60+ people so far.
Nearly 100 people gather in downtown Minneapolis for Tort. One sign reads, "Trees gives us life, police take it" and one banner reads, "We fight like hell for the dead and living. Stop Cop City."
Atlanta Police rushed the crowd, arresting at least one person by tackling them to the ground.
The Mpls crowd stopped in front of Wince Way where Winston Smith was killed to pay respects to him and Deona Marie. Marie was killed by Nicholas David Kraus when he drove his vehicle into her when she was protesting in response to Smith's killing by police.
In Mpls a sign is held reading, "Our revenge will be a world with no police and no prisons." And a Bank of America branch was spray painted on with messages to stop 'Cop City' and about the bank's funding of the police training facility.
The crowd in Mpls carrying banners and signs in support of Tortuguita/Tort and of the movement to #StopCopCity and of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. The crowd is now dispersed.
In Atlanta, "Lil Turtle" was spray painted on a kiosk sign with an anarchist "A" symbol. Also the business front that the Atlanta Police Foundation is based out of was painted with "Fuck Cop City."
