I'm using Apache on the server side. And I'd like to change as little as possible. Most importantly I don't want to rely on any third party service like cloudfare to filter or serve requests. I need some help: I'm self-hosting the documentation to a scientific software package https://rebound.hanno-rein.de. This is for a small audience and it's a small, static website. Yet, crawlers have recently been hammering my server with stupid requests that make it very slow for normal users. The requests come from residential/VPN IP ranges and usually only include one request per IP. I want to block them, or slow them down. But I don't know how. 1/N

I got another interview request regarding SpaceX orbital data centres. Clearly this is just hype for the IPO. So I’m a bit conflicted about whether I should agree to the interview or not. I'm working on an update that improves how one can access particles in my REBOUND N-body code. The particles are stored in an array, but their position is not guaranteed to stay the same throughout a simulation. So pointers or indices don't always work. Ideally I'd like the refer to a particle with a string. I want to make it both efficient and have a nice syntax in both c and the python wrappers. So it's tricky. And the devil is in the detail...
I've finished our walk-in closet over the weekend and I'm very happy how it turned out! And after edge-banding over 30m of plywood with ash, I'm getting rather good it at.
