we have defederated from eightpoint.app due to it becoming increasingly apparent that it is the latest attempt by serial rapist and fbi snitch Laurelai Bailey to worm her way into queer/social justice spaces and prey on primarily newly-out trans women who aren't aware of her history of abuse

even if slaanesh is--beyond all reason--not her, the appropriation of anti-abuse terminology and tactics to cover for abusers is rampant there and a danger to everyone who federates with them

its really cool that everyone hates adobe and is tired of being absolutely fucked over and screwed by them but @GIMP still refuses to change their name to something that's not completely fucking embarrassing to say in just about every company

@eevee maybe im biased as proprietor of a witch themed mastodon server, but what if it was gnu imp and had a cute little imp maybe it even had gnu horns or was friends with the GNU gnu or something

@Angle yeah but what algorithms? the problem with social media feeds is that they have algorithms meant to be addicting and increase engagement usually by boosting ragebait and things that are popular, and filtering out things from smaller accounts so they get no reach

so like, what would the point be? whose interests would it serve? if someone came up with a cool algorithm that found interesting stuff to you, sure, but algorithmic feeds exist damn near entirely in the interests of capitalists and investors that own the platform they're used on

remember that piracy is always morally justified if not a downright moral imperative

also dear @Gargron im sorry for the times i got over the top mad about some new feature, especially when i was mad about the directory that was kind of silly of me

the fact that people are mad about the edit feature is mind-boggling to me and i don't know why eugen tolerates our presence and continues to gift us with updates to mastodon at this point

i think they're Fine, and any problems can be easily mitigated with making it clear it's against the rules to do anything more fucked up with them than very harmless mild pranks, so making it clear that on w.l, it is against the rules to do anything more fucked up with the edit button than very harmless mild pranks

...when i get us updated to where we have it in the first place lol
