One of the main things that saddens me about the U.S. Gov being taken over by incompetent, vicious fascists is the breaking of our ties to allies around the world, including our closest neighbors. I recall throughout my career that we Americans were always thrilled when we had the opportunity to host or visit our allied counterparts. We admired them and enjoyed their perspectives, and we genuinely felt they were our partners in a common defense of democratic governance. Now that's destroyed by an absolute lunatic pig and his demented band of oatmeal-brained maniacs. It's very sad, an incalculable loss.
I'm just saying, we could've had the Black lady in charge and none of this destruction would have happened. Pete Hegseth wouldn't have taken away all the pictures of women and POC and blurted classified in Signal chats; a billionaire wouldn't be ransacking the govt especially agencies that were making him follow the law; Canada wouldn't be saying the old relationship with the U.S. is gone; there wouldn't be a "White House Rapid Response" account on a Nazi platform raging about how "WE WILL KILL YOU"; grandpa would still get his Social Security check and wouldn't have to get kicked out of the old folks' home; disabled cousin Bob wouldn't lose his Social Security and have to eat cat food in a tent; the stock market would be stable and your 401k would be too. But we couldn't have the Black lady, no, we just can't have that in America.
@GottaLaff E.O. 13526. These malicious knuckleheads already have instructions in place on what to classify, and military plans and operations that could be thwarted if known about ahead of time are on the list. But they're only intent on covering for themselves so they'll claim it was all unclassified until kingdom come.
One thing: if the SECDEF had NOT classified this information, he should be immediately fired for incompetence. Dems should demand it. He's not following existing orders on extremely sensitive procedures. https://infosec.exchange/@Nonya_Bidniss/114228901539721413
A reporter was added to a White House principals committee Signal group. No, that shouldn't happen, and government entities discussing classified information shouldn't be operating this way. Obviously.
"I have never seen a breach quite like this. It is not uncommon for national-security officials to communicate on Signal. But the app is used primarily for meeting planning and other logistical matters—not for detailed and highly confidential discussions of a pending military action. And, of course, I’ve never heard of an instance in which a journalist has been invited to such a discussion.
Conceivably, Waltz, by coordinating a national-security-related action over Signal, may have violated several provisions of the Espionage Act, which governs the handling of “national defense” information, according to several national-security lawyers interviewed by my colleague Shane Harris for this story."
The most bizarre part is Pete Hegseth texting "I will do all we can to enforce 100% OPSEC” 🤡 🤡 🤡
In my day, PC-level officials were issued secure phones with specially developed and security vetted apps on them. It is true that people who don't have government issued phones do some coordination using their own phones. Things like "meeting on Wednesday at 9 a.m." with no other context. Technically government employees are not allowed to use their own phones or emails for official business. In reality, people who don't warrant issuing special equipment still need to communicate with their team. And they are not stupid enough to blab strike plans! I swear to god I've never met anyone in the govt as STUPID as these MAGA men. #spillage#NSC#DOD#military#security
One of the hikers today said I didn't look like I was in my 60s and I was pleased to hear it. Then I got to thinking I have to keep myself in shape because I'll probably have to come out of retirement after Musk and Lutnick and Dudek steal my social security. They're doing it.
I'd like to go back to having a government. Not a crime ring. #coup#corruption
Got an email from Doug Jones pushing a new social media site called "sez (dot) us" that's supposed to be I guess a Dem counterpoint to Xitter. I looked at it. Seems like a Lemmy instance maybe? I didn't like the privacy policy. Not going to try it out. Also it's owned by a corporation. F that.
@WarnerCrocker Try a different framing, even though I realize the legacy media will fail.
The Republicans will be shutting down the government. The Republicans are doing this. They are extremists using the budget to harm the American people and national security. Democrats should not collaborate. President Musk is shutting things down and disabling agencies while Trump is placing entirely corrupt individuals in charge of them. The framing needs to be on what the Republicans are doing, and not of Democrats who will not collaborate with causing damage.
5 Bullet Points to be Submitted Weekly. U. S. Air Force employees now have to submit the 5 bullet points on a weekly basis. The email address isn’t a .mil or .gov or .org. It’s a .com. The madness deepens …. #coup#corruption#natsec
I don't know if this is happening across govt but in DOD the civilians are being told to send 5 bullet points about what they did each week, and it's going to a dot com. This is outrageous. #coup#corruption#military#natsec
Center for Systemic Peace, which published the Polity Index: "The USA dropped below the "democracy threshold" (+6) on the POLITY scale in 2020 and was considered an anocracy (+5) at the end of the year 2020; the USA score for 2021 returned to democracy (+8). Beginning on 1 July 2024, due to the US Supreme Court ruling granting the US Presidency broad, legal immunity, the USA is noted by the Polity Project as experiencing a regime transition through, at least, 20 January 2025. ... The USA is no longer considered a democracy and lies at the cusp of autocracy; it has experienced a Presidental Coup and an Adverse Regime Change event (8-point drop in its POLITY score)."
