I've never been threatened by a trans person. Never been harassed, abused, assaulted, or discriminated against by a trans person. Never by a gay person either. I've had all of those things happen to me but the perps were every single one of them cishet men.

So I don't need protection from trans people or any variety of LGBTQ people at all. People who claim that are not speaking for me, they are seeking to oppress me. If you're a woman or girl who plans to someday get married, I cannot stress this enough. Do not change your name. Never change your name. Even before this abominable SAVE Act threatened to take away the right of millions of women to vote, it was already a mistake because life is change and if someday you aren't still married and you maybe don't want that name anymore, it becomes a colossal pain the ass to change it back when your bank accounts, your home, your car title, your bills, your will, your social security, your insurance, and any other thing you can name will have to be changed and they will all require you to go through some sort of bureaucratic fuckery from mild to extremely painful. DON'T DO IT.

I am talking about a specific case here, the tradition of women changing their names in marriage. I'm not getting in the weeds on other types of name changes.

When the ICE director said he wanted to create an "Amazon Prime for humans" sort of deportation system, it reminded me how in The Third Reich At War, Richard J. Evans writes about how the Germans overseeing the mass murder of thousands of Jews and others per day would refer to them as objects such as "packages." And I remembered also how the Japanese of Unit 731 who were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people called the victims of their vile human experimentation "logs." So arguably the worst corner of our government, the lawless thugs of ICE, are now thinking of people as packages, or objects by whatever name. Is this the fifth stage of fascism yet?

A report approved by the police-officer-turned-prison-contractor claimed the Venezuelan man was a member of the notorious gang Tren de Aragua.

But the credibility of Charles Cross Jr., who signed the report, was so bad, prosecutors flagged him on a list of police who had been accused of lying, breaking the law or acting in a way that erodes their credibility to testify in Milwaukee County.

Cross was fired from his position as a Milwaukee police sergeant in 2012 after driving his car into a family’s home while intoxicated. He appealed the decision and resigned in the process, according to the department.

One of the main things that saddens me about the U.S. Gov being taken over by incompetent, vicious fascists is the breaking of our ties to allies around the world, including our closest neighbors. I recall throughout my career that we Americans were always thrilled when we had the opportunity to host or visit our allied counterparts. A reporter was added to a White House principals committee Signal group. No, that shouldn't happen, and government entities discussing classified information shouldn't be operating this way. Obviously.

In my day, PC-level officials were issued secure phones with specially developed and security vetted apps on them. It is true that people who don't have government issued phones do some coordination using their own phones. Things like "meeting on Wednesday at 9 a.m." with no other context. Technically government employees are not allowed to use their own phones or emails for official business. In reality, people who don't warrant issuing special equipment still need to communicate with their team. And they are not stupid enough to blab strike plans!
