ngl there's quite a large niche (more of a gap really) between “people who want a system that is quick to set up and makes decisions for me that i don't want to think about” and “people who want to control every single aspect of their system and are willing to spend days configuring it”

and nixos fills that niche quite well

especially since it allows you to start out with the former and tweak your way to the latter, without littering artifacts all over the system, and without having to resort to imperfect solutions like etckeeper, since every nixos-rebuild is almost like a fresh install
