More indigenous #digitalart that I’ve made in the last two or three days. I started this journey doing abstract stuff and it feels like I’m coming home a bit. #mastoart
I had two very different conversations yesterday. Almost opposites. One was with a young woman who is now curator of indigenous collection of a local prominent museum. And her daily struggle sifting thru crates and crates of unindexed material and bodily remains that belong to a tribe. She is Pueblo de Isleta and the days are heavy. There are toys taken from the still warm hands of children trampled by US Cavalry. Someone’s great grandmother’s bones in a box. There is no equivalent to how badly remains of indigenous have been treated by the United States of America.
One of the most delusional things I’ve heard people say lately is “if we don’t give in to these people, there will be violence” - ding ding ding we are already there. You can’t appease a fascist. It didn’t work in the 1930s and it doesn’t work now. The options are defeat them utterly or be subjugated by them.
The playbook for Trump was never new - you saw this kinda thing with rise of fascists in 1930. The question is are Americans smart enough to fight back?
When I was a young left leaning guy they told me I’d become more conservative as i got older. 30 years later I think we need a 32 hour workweek, free healthcare, high speed trains between cities and zero cars inside them, universal basic income, and all of it paid by forcibly taking the money from billionaires and the churches until they disappear. So whatever.
@arrdem yo if any of the ex tweeps are security TPM/EPM/PgM I may have a line on things over here at google - can you signal boost? They can hit me up here
