I've used a dozen over the years & do recall some that have some toggles in their preferences for filtering what they import/load into their catalogs, including metadata stuff, with geolocation being one of them... so that might be a place to look and see if there may have been a config corruption, or maybe a 'feature' was added as part of an update but not implemented the way it should have been.
LightRoom - at least the perpetual licensed versions had issues and needed resets.
Seems it's all due to an April fools joke started on TiKTok last week... so, nope, nothing but a rumor.

After reading, it leaves me with concerns that are not dev related.
1. If there's xlarge $ infusions involved, it means profit will always be 1st, and fuck the tech. They will never care.
2. If they'll eat their young once - and don't wince about it - they WILL do it again and enjoy it more aggressively every time.
3. Once they have a taste of their own, they'll feed on other's 'outside the family'.
They want performing monkeys, not projects with merit.
You don't mention the material, but if it's leather, stretching might be possible if it's thick enough to handle some reshaping of the pocket.
I'd say that makes you more of a normal human being than most of the people who unleash all this horrendous nonsense.
Having a live video feed from your pocket truly could be life changing, and I can very much see that needed scenario right now in the US and elsewhere.
I want to see this happen with #PeerTube and pitched in to help get them to their goal.
