The year is 2026. I do not understand how you can treat posts on X as if it is a cool and normal thing to do.

We had a bit of an incident at Starbucks today. My MacBook Pro drank a bunch of tea and now it doesn’t turn on.

Today while troubleshooting the use of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I learned these are called Kaomoji: Japanese emoticons made out of combinations of characters to represent facial expressions. Neat! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaomoji

      Kaomoji
Kaomoji are Japanese emoticons that use combinations of text characters to represent facial expressions and emotions. They first appeared in Japan during the 1980s, offering a distinctive way to convey tone and mood in digital communication. Common examples include: (^ω^) – expresses happiness or excitement ( ͡o╭╮ ͡o) – conveys sadness or disappointment Kaomoji developed independently around the same time that sideways emoticons (or smileys) began appearing in the United States, such as: :) or :-) – happy :( or :-( – unhappy Unlike Western emoticons, which are typically viewed sideways, kaomoji are meant to be read upright and often make use of a wider variety of characters. They are considered a precursor to modern emoji, which also originated in Japan. History Users from Japan popularized a style of emoticons that can be understood without tilting one's head. Apple Raises Refurbished Mac and iPad Prices After New Product Hikes
      from @waxeditorial
Apple has raised the prices of Macs and iPads across its Certified Refurbished online store, following the sweeping new product price hikes introduced earlier today. Across the affected products in Apple's refurb inventory, prices went up by around $160 to $180 on average, but it was the Mac increases that were generally more eye-watering than the iPad increases. The Mac increases averaged about $204 at the low end and $330 at the high end.

30 hours ago, I asked for an expedited review of Indigo for macOS. 29 hours ago it went into review. It remains in review. We have scuttled our Thursday launch plan, and are hoping for next Tuesday. Thanks Tim Apple!

I can’t help but be struck by the utility of AI being to help navigate the lives of conspicuously wealthy consumers. Sure, it’s all flights and vacations, package deliveries and concerts. Some of us are *struggling*, damn you.

The EU will launch the digital euro as a 100% European digital payments system to replace reliance on Visa, Mastercard, and Apple and Google Pay, with the European Central Bank issuing a digital form of cash. It will be built entirely in Europe, have zero transaction fees, instant payments, and strong privacy, giving the EU full control over its payments infrastructure. https://www.independent.ie/business/digital-euro-what-it-is-and-how-we-will-use-the-new-form-of-cash/a165973061.html (https://archive.ph/ERzTA)

Today, I'm announcing the launch of Croissant, an iPhone app for buttery-smooth cross-posting to Mastodon, Threads and Bluesky.

This is actually one of two announcements I'm making today. The other is about the future of PupperPost — and it's really exciting news.
