Can't #Bluesky just be another one big instance on the #Fediverse, please? I know it's impossible(?) at protocol level, but you get my drift. I don't like this splintering. :(

My motivation to move to a decentralized network is non-political, but structural- design and system. I want ALL voices and it's up to me as a free individual how to interact with them (and in turn I'd want to be "seen/heard" as fairly).

In search of something better, I think I've progressed from Threads to Mastodon (the Fediverse) and now to Nostr real quick.

Quite challenging for a non-tech guy like me (kept me sleepless last night reading up on Nostr) but it's worth the ride- a bumpy one at that. Learned a new technology and new set of jargons even.

The Fediverse is still my "home universe" though. Will not leave #VivaldiSocial. This is just me putting one foot in and get a bit of what the party is all about. :)

And here's my #proofofwork! My npub and Lightning wallet address (yeah, I got all the bells and whistles). :D

So, I didn't care that it was 4am. Did a deep dive on Nostr as I was very intrigued by it and wow... Mind blown. It's "identity-based", not account/platform-based. Correct to say that?

But I will say that it's not for grandma. At least not yet.

Just starting to wrap my head around the Fediverse and ActivityPub (and I like what I'm learning and discovering), but now here comes Nostr. For a regular user who has no deep technical knowledge, I can only hope they're interoperable. I think people will reach the fatigue of constantly setting up shop on every new technology that comes up.

To me the ultimate interoperability is if we could move around with our content (not just the follow lists). That kind of portability and freedom. Is that even possible? Too much to ask?

I'm spending much more time on #Mastodon now (via #VivaldiSocial), I think I'm gonna' have to jettison my Threads account. There's no point in maintaining it especially that it's still limitedly "federated" and still works (I think) within its own algo.
