The UK and AU Online Safety Acts effectively outlaw noncommecial hobbyist forums globally. As someone who runs one I've written up some early notes and would appreciate connections to lawyers' writeups, other forums threatened by them, and similar: https://lobste.rs/c/cdfjmr
@tim I bet it's a slow rollout and you're in the 0.1% (or whatever) it's active for. I'm about to roll into a Twitch stream for Lobsters office hours, but is there a time we could pair on investigating? I'll put a debug script on my blog and you reload to share info. https://push.cx/google-ad-injection has my start at this.
Google has started injecting unlabeled ads into pages that look like an author created them. Can anyone get a reusable example so we can detect the tampering?
When setting answers to bad security questions like "mother's maiden name", don't give random answers like "WpcrDnqpmSaL". (This is fairly common bad advice.) Support agents will accept "Oh I don't know I just bash at the keyboard for those" as an answer. Give a real-looking fake answer.
In about 90 minutes, and continuing twice-weekly, I'm going to stream Lobsters office hours and development on Twitch. I hope to answer questions and generally just let folks look over my shoulder as I work on things: https://lobste.rs/s/zzprkr/weekly_lobsters_office_hours
I had a funny moment streaming yesterday where someone was blown away that my .vimrc is older than them. Old coders never die, we just become load-bearing infrastructure (and then die).
