Something (clearly God) told me to swap the bale spear off of my open-station to my cab tractor. Since I didn't listen I get to get soaked in the hard-pounding 40* rains as I take hay to the stock.

53 years old and I've still not learned to listen...

I just thought of Napoleon Dynamite saying: "Just follow your hear, that's what I do." For anyone that thinks Napoleon Dynamite is one of the greatest movies of all time as I do.

I have this boy that, like his mama, has a very intelligent thing going on between his ears. His idea of a fun birthday activity is to go and dig along the creek bank hunting for crystals... I did the shoveling and the rest of my kin did the hunting. They found two amethysts and some garnet crystals. I added to my calluses.

I love being daddy to this lad.

While walking our farm with my wife and kids before bed this evening my ten year old feels something move against his foot. With his flashlight he shine a copperhead. For what ever reason, likely the grace of God, that beautiful snake didn't strike my boy. So, I shot my first viper of the year.

I am grateful for Father's protection of my son.
