Personal upcoming age 50 yrs old activism goals include pretending to be forgetful on purpose in order to gain more access to several spaces to do more pop-up direct actions that are out of the norms & not put on any public agendas. I may be getting older but I'm still wanting to do activism until unable to physically partake.
This is the only #SocialMedia that I have ever felt comfortable enough to be my full #AuDHD self participating in. My past social media experiences, prior to 2022, were all huge corporate owned ones with fucked up algorithms. I never felt really safe on those huge social media platforms. I felt that masking on those, almost all the time - kept me safer & under NT radars more. Just fake it to survive, basically.
It's not 100% safe anywhere online for very outspoken, #decolonial folks like me but there is a small safer harbour. As a longtime POC activist with an ND brain - I've felt more like I belong here, than in the corporate owned online spaces.
Here is our update on emergency donations to get us safely back home on Monday. We are super close to reaching the goal, thanks to kind & caring individuals here 🙏💗
Funds raised as of this morning: $2171.42
I can accept e-transfers if you're with Canadian banks: quebanhincedar@gmail.com
Mega big thank yous - to every person who donated & boosted our emergency donations mutual aid fundraiser to get car fixed & get us home safely on Monday.
We've reached our goal! Donations received between PayPal & 4 etransfers since yesterday total -> $2332.52.
The extra funds will be put towards Mom's medication costs for prescription pickup on Tuesday.
I'll update when we pickup car on Monday & until we safely arrive back home.
Plea for #emergency#MutualAid to help get our car fixed & 2 extra nights accommodation while we wait for repairs to be done.
Parts/services cost from Miles Automotive in Parksville is $2161.47 - after taxes to repair.
The front brakes & rotors blew, battery was weak & it died too. I'm upset because I spent $1800 only 3 weeks ago for full checkup/tuneup & got oil/fluids changed too, in Victoria & was told the car was all good except that battery is old & needs to be replaced. Nothing about the brakes. I had saved up for those recent car mechanic services. I only have enough in bank account for mortgage & hydro payments, municipal water bill & medications for me & Mom.
The suite owners here are willing to let us stay 2 more nights with no taxes at reduced rate due to car breakdown emergency - $90/night.
Mom & I would really appreciate any financial assistance right now to help pay for costs above & help us get ourselves & car back home. I have enough cash on hand to pay for our foods & the pricey taxi fare back to mechanics on Monday morning.

Dead #trees are not wasted timber dollars - they are sources of food for literally thousands of beings in a #forest#ecosystem, from tiny microscopic beings to insectivorous birds. Standing dead trees are known as snags, while a fallen dead trees are nurse logs. A cut or natural stump can serve the same #ecological function as a #NurseStump.
Nature wastes nothing. If there is a nutrient source to be had, there is a being to benefit from it. Nurse logs, standing snags & nurse stumps play hosts to all sorts of mosses, lichens, fungi, insects & arthropods, many hidden deep inside, as well as other living beings that prey on them.
Nurse #stumps are still deeply rooted; new plant, tree & fungi life grows out of their tops. Nurse stumps & dead stumps that have no new growth atop are like anchor systems for living trees growing in forests. You destabilize the ecosystem when you remove them from their natural #environment.
Colonizers love using more 'talks', more 'studies', more 'ceasefire conferences', while repeating how much they care(they don't give a fuck about genocides of POC folks) & how hard they're working to create peace(while creating WWIII fascist conditions) through mass murders & genocide - using your tax monies. While they are more than OK helping to mass murder even more POC.
Fuck the entire lot of those greedy war profiteering jerks with too much power & not an ounce of humanity in them.
Before I head out for the day -> Recommended #documentary film.
Between 1952 and 1960, Britain fought a vicious war in Kenya against the anticolonial Mau Mau movement. It was an exceptionally bloody conflict, with atrocities committed on both sides. For decades, many of the worst abuses by British colonial forces were kept hidden. Piecing together survivor testimonies and expert analysis from British and Kenyan historians, this film tells a complete and detailed story for the first time of how Britain was involved in systemic torture – including accounts of murders, rapes and forced castrations.
A Very British Way of Torture is a film by Ed McGown and produced by Rob Newman.

People who lack #compassion & are #inhumane - do not feel the same as most of us do. They lack #empathy. You cannot get through to anyone who lacks empathy, with statements like the above. You would only be wasting your time trying to draw out empathy from inhumane folks. Your time is better spent helping others, wherever & however you can.
It's Winter & I'm looking at planning to head back into interior of BC next year to try & bust into one of the several #BlueTriton aka #Nestlé (under different name but owned by Nestlé) to document what they're doing to our freshwater/watersheds here. I wasn't able to access their site near Hope 2 years ago. I've found a few other locations & got local intel on those - can probably get into 2 of them. I'll update as things come together for that.
It includes footage & shared #deforestation issues with the #Amazon. It's all connected.
I'm holding back tears near the end of it. I was arrested a few days after doing the documentary film interview at gate to River & Landback resistance camps.
@AnarchoNinaWrites I'm a fun socks appreciator. I also love taking my socks off. It brings instant contentment. I'd say bra too but I rarely wear those.
Neoliberal/fascist people in positions of public power never say - Violence isn't the answer - when they give more raises to state mercenaries to buy more weapons of state funded violence & militarized/armored vehicles & to beat up nonviolent citizens exercising their rights to public #dissent & peaceful #protests.
I'm uninterested in bootlicker responses. I will block those who choose to commit bootlicking offenses on my timeline - on sight.
Only me & 4 other #CovidCautious colleagues who never let up on #CovidSafety have not called in sick for over 2 years. All our other colleagues have taken multiple sick leaves & some developed long covid disabilities & can't return to work anymore. Yet, the majority of folks are still opting to play the #covid Russian roulette games.
Kunjina Tesfaye on Growth and Preserving #Artisanal Techniques.
#Handweaving, #embroidery and #fabric manipulation are design elements that communicate stories about Ethiopia. “If you’ve seen photos of #Ethiopians wearing the traditional white dress, it’s handwoven.”
Interview with Kunjina Tesfaye.
When Kunjina Tesfaye talks about UDET, her eponymous #fashion label Kunjina’s collection, growth radiates. #UDET is a Geez word meaning cycle. Inspired by Ms. Tesfaye’s personal experience, this collection explores fear, productivity guilt, and growth. “It’s like a butterfly’s story or growth from the first stage, from the caterpillar stage into becoming a butterfly. I’ve used that metaphor to explain how a person goes through these stages to flourish and become the person they want. It’s a cycle. It’s not a one-time thing.”
Since her debut as a twentysomething with a degree in construction technology, Ms. Tesfaye’s life and creative approach have evolved. “Every time I make a collection I’ve grown – my designs and the brand and the aesthetics, everything has changed or has grown.” Today, Kunjina has developed into a platform for local #artists. They lobby for growth, preserve traditional #handcrafting methods, and promote #ecofriendly practices.
Normalize telling insecure (almost all white) men, wearing tactical gear at local firearms ranges, that you're wearing a bulletproof vest because of trigger happy cowards like them & hand them a card for mens' therapy as you leave their shocked asses behind.
I am that range bitch. You can be that range bitch too.
