The tragic irony is that this piece of music is from #JohnWilliams score for #SchindlersList which addresses the #genocide committed in Europe against European Jews during WW2.
Here is a Lebanese musician, playing his cello, amidst the bombed out ruins in the southern suburbs of #Beirut - November 2024.
@AnarchoNinaWrites I'll take a look after my late breakfast. I've blocked so many folks so may not be able to see what that person posted, if they're already on my shitlist.
The peace activist veterans I am still friends with get together to do community work like serving in community kitchens, helping elderly/disabled with errands, etc on this day. They've skipped the public ceremonies on purpose & I have mass respect for them 💗
Big Auntie honoured her former fellow resistance fighters with a long & somber incense filled ceremony at her home today. We have never attended any colonial public remembrance day ceremonies - except when me & my brothers were forced to, in our public school times, which was mandatory for all students. We have spent some time during past remembrance days with some Canadian veterans here, who have dedicated the rest of their lives to fighting for peace. Despite them being called traitors by folks who enjoy war/violence more than working very hard towards peace. They are the real heroes from past war times - they understand wars should NEVER be glorified but avoided.
#Resistance against imperialism & colonialism is in my blood. It goes back much further than the USA invasion on Vietnam. It goes back several generations on both my patriarch & matriarch ancestors sides. Several of my ancestors in China were murdered by imperialists for resisting indoctrination & trying to fight back. Several of my ancestors in Vietnam were murdered by French colonizers while fighting back & trying to protect their families & ancestral lands. Part of my ancestral duties is to keep on resisting the colonial/imperial evil forces. I owe at least that, to all my ancestors who sacrificed their lives so I could live & speak out, today.
We usually follow up past martyred ancestors day with a day of honouring all children. It's important to me as a surviving war child that childrens' lives lost are fully honoured too. We end those ceremonies with blessings for the children of today.
I have never understood, since my childhood years, why we have huge public ceremonies for people who got paid to go to war & kill people they don't know for someone who is willing to use them as cannon fodder but they don't have big public ceremonies for all the victims of wars & any speeches from the survivors of horrific war crimes committed by many people with a ton of medals on their clothes.
I was arrested for multiple counts. Not a single charge stuck. I went back out to the Clayoquot Sound blockade less than 24 hours after being released from Tofino processing station. I wasn't arrested again for 2 weeks. I got us out of jail early on 2nd group arrests by getting my comrades to sing Raffi kids songs relentlessly until they let us out because our singing drove our jailers batty ✊️ Thanks, to Baby Beluga & Down By the Bay songs 🙂
I was first arrested during my first week there. For chaining myself & 9 others on/around an excavator machine. I gummed up their locks with bubblegum, glued hardened playdough on their chain links, put cement mix into their truck fuel tanks & put their spilled machinery grease on every foothold on machine. I watched colonial goons slip/fall. Then be pissed off locks were all too gummed to use regular power tools on. We held them back 4 days with primitive sabotage.
When local #HateCrimes happen to me/my family/my #BIPOC friends - we don't call cops. The cops have abused us too many times for us to expect they'd protect us over bigot perpetrators who attack us. We can't trust cops here who have abused powers of authority & abused/traumatized me/my family/our BIPOC friends & community. We protect ourselves because no one else will.
I've told 6 different #Canadian cop detachments that the reason almost all citizens hate them is due to their ongoing #SystematicRacism, zero protection for whistle-blowers, giving raises to worst of the worst police brass, not challenging their corrupt union leaders & "just following orders" like fucking Hitler SS.
Don't defend fucking institutionalized cowards - with badges/guns - over defending innocent citizens killed/maimed by those same fucking cops/corporate mercenaries you tried to defend.
For those who care about 'good cops' - why the fuck are you not fighting, tooth n nail, for genuine public accountability & protections for the very few brave enough to be #police#WhistleBlowers?!?!?
Why aren't more BC/Canadian citizens angry as heck over the fact our governments gave BILLIONS to RCMP/RCMP CIRG to break the law & assault activists & protect industry over humanity? Because of fucking corporate lobbyists powers. MONEY & POWER - #Colonizers bent on capitalism - never really change their selfish & inhumane priorities/policies unless forced to.
Only inhumane & out of touch with war survivors folks would ever try to dictate when & how we, the actual war survivors, should forgive the people who mass murdered our family members. None of the people in North America who are OK with that, have suffered mass murders from foreign invaders/occupiers before & they should cease trying to tell us POC how/when or even IF - we would ever forgive.
How do you forgive mass murderers - when they've never stopped mass murdering others - after slaughtering many of your family members & laughing about it? Do not dare to tell us, the survivors of such atrocities, to forgive the people responsible. Tell your mass murderers to fully repent, first. Your 'heroes' are mass murderers of my family.
