I feel like I'm banging my drum on this again, but: PLEASE use inclusive language when speaking about sexual and reproductive rights.
Women are not the only ones who get pregnant or have abortions. They may be the majority, but non-binary people and trans men also need reproductive healthcare/rights.
If we believe in reproductive justice, we need to make sure gender minority voices are included and uplifted too. Using 'women and pregnant people' is a good reminder to ourselves to do that.
Today is #TransDayOfRemembrance, where we remember all the trans people we've lost to violence and oppression - in particular Black trans women and trans women of colour. It's a solemn occasion and an opportunity to mourn the dead - but also, to remind ourselves to fight like hell for the living.
(Can we please try not to use the term 'refugee' or #TwitterRefugee to describe fleeing the birdcage? It's quite disrespectful to actual refugees fleeing persecution and conflict irl.)
Go dtí an gruagaire anois (am lón déanach mar bhí me ar Teams idir 1 agus 2). Tá gá ann dó - táim beagáinín foppish anois...
I'm trying to post a bit more in Irish because it's nice to see posts in Irish on #MastoDaoine, but won't be switching languages entirely so don't worry, worldwide friends ☺️
The one thing I wish I could do on Mastodon is follow local feeds from other areas of interest. I want scholar.social and photog.social and hcommons.social and tons of others!
