Librarian job opening at York University (Toronto), in Research and Scholarly Communications. Deadline 15 May.

Work will include research visibility, research data management, OA publishing, research impact, plus some subject teaching and consultations.

Salary range: $110–$130,000 CAD. Unionized. Any questions about York University Libraries, I'm glad to try to answer.

The delights of working on a university campus.

I pass by two students. "There's this gigantic four-dimensional matrix ..."

Facilities truck going by briefly drowns them out, blasting Black Sabbath's "The Wizard" (1970).

"... so that S and S' at time t = t₀ ..."

They move on. I walk by a man dressed as a banana, throwing boxes of candy at people. Many let them fall to the ground.

I go inside. The men's washroom floor is flooded with water.

New climate crisis book display up in the Scott Library at York University. I printed zines by @Aepasek and @hakan_geijer to give away. (Malm's How to Blow Up a Pipeline, and the film adaptation, on also on the table.)

(None of these displays ever look good in photos, but the space is grim and we do the best we can.)

@hakan_geijer Thanks for doing this and the others! They are really useful.

A very small request: if you ever regenerate these, or do new ones, perhaps you could include page numbers on print-ready versions? It makes it that little bit easier to make sure pamphlets are turning out properly. (Thanks also for making them available in this form.)

@mhoye This is interesting work and a nice conversation about it. I had to pause a little way in so I could ask: What's going on with the keyboard on the laptop behind you? Are those stickers on keys for special purposes?
