@don_atoms @marcprux @fdroidorg the best thing you can do is stop using android. There are alternatives out there. They might not be as good as android currently, but android wasn't that great when it first came out either.

@its_a_me I don't have a moment to give you a good reply, but I would say that modern computing pretty much either runs on hobby projects or grew out of hobby projects.

It's weird that people are recommending Signal over XMPP and apps like Conversations. Not only does it have E2E encryption it can also be self hosted and is cross platform. You also don't need a phone number. It's like an email address or mastodon account.
