This @pluralistic post about keeping a suspense file - a term and concept new to me - expresses one of the most important things I've learned in my career and organizing. People need to be reminded of what they said they would do with you, and if you don't help them remember, inefficiency and uncomfortable feelings/situations will arise. It's an art to keep up with others' commitments and kindly hold them accountable, and Cory has shared a great way to do it. https://pluralistic.net/2024/10/26/one-weird-trick/#todo (1/2)
@TeamMidwest it's pretty interesting how archiving is an act of anxiety for some people. if you are archiving out of sudden anxiety, take a breath and consider if you really need to spin those wheels. on the other hand, someone's random copy sometimes miraculously survives so if you're really enjoying the process, you do you !
"If we want arty communities, we need to create the conditions where the freelancers, the experimenters, the teachers, the working class and the capitalism defectors can actually survive. We need arts programming in public schools, non-employment-based health insurance, and workforce housing. It’s not magical, it’s not romantic, and we can’t mural our way there. " 👏 wise words from friend, artist, and Medford city council member Kit Collins
