@inthehands quite often increasing efficiency means reducing “communication overhead.” however, this communication is the mechanism for building shared mental models that allow systems to become resilient. basically just restating what you already said 🙂

@inthehands i doubt the show will have any significant cultural/political impact, but… i do think it’s aligned with the zeitgeist now. it gained popularity during a cynical era, survived through the earnestness of the obama (and early trump) years. and to me at least, it feels like we are back into a deeply cynical time.

@inthehands wapo piece doesn’t have a lot of details, but does link to this NYC press release with specifics, eg the “bikes” can be up to 48” wide. they are, however, limited to 15 mph, and this seems positive: “The rules also establish new curb regulations— a "Commercial Bicycle Loading Only" zone—to allow dedicated space at the curb for cargo bikes to load and unload goods.”

@inthehands I would say it really depends on the type of avant garde art. Sometimes the intent is around subverting the ways art is converted into money, which is kind of similar to poisoning AI. But I think the range of goals for adventurous art is so broad, it’s hard to compare to any activity with a narrow goal.
More importantly perhaps, the function of the art can change over time, so deeply subversive music gets absorbed and 20 years later it becomes grocery store music. Yet - if you listen closely, it’s still subversive!

@inthehands @Gaolaitch I was reading Heinrich von Kleist's "On the Marionette Theater" recently, and was really struck by how much it speaks to our current moment

@inthehands @jamesthomson I’m not sure I got this right, but it sounds like you have to opt-in to ChatGPT for every single request to it - and they do IP masking

@inthehands @devopscats when I first saw this yesterday, I tried it myself and ChatGPT actually gave a great response (essentially “just take the goat across, since there is no cabbage or wolf constraint”). Just now I tried again, and got a different response, somewhere between the two in logical soundness. This raises another issue with automations based on these systems. You can test it, and get a perfectly reasonable output, then expose it to users and get garbage. You can never be sure.
