The artistic portion of the Olympic opening ceremony is showing an idealized portrayal of Paris. I know Paris, and France, are very complicated, and not anything near the artistic "ideal".

But that's the thing about the arts, and athletics, to a lesser extent. It reminds us of our capacity as people. It reminds us that we could do anything… if we wanted it bad enough…

There are a number of #MLS supporters groups that are boycotting the Leagues Cup tournament between MLS and Mexican LigaMX clubs.

Why?

Well earlier in the year, MLS tried pull its teams from the U.S. Open Cup (our version of the F.A. Cup) citing "fixture congestion," never mind that this extra congestion came from the creation of the Leagues Cup—a tournament they own.

MLS ended up sending 8 full squads to the Open Cup, with the remainder of clubs fielding reserve squads…

So me… well, I'm already an Apple TV+ subscriber because I'm a rabid fan of the NY Red Bulls, so they have my money one way or another.

But will I get as deep into the tournament this year? I'll watch my team's games, but that's about it.

Certainly not buying tickets to it.

But man, do I love it when we win a road game big and listening to the local homers sound absolutely dejected.

Every MLS broadcast on Apple TV has the home radio feed as an audio option. And if you don't listen to it, you're really missing out. The normal broadcasters sound like robots. The radio hosts are absolutely free-wheeling. Doc Harmon and Steve Jolley are no exception.

Aside from the eternal pessimism I feel about this country, I mostly just feel mad. I feel like I’ve been mad every day for the last eight years. Just so, so, so tired of being mad.

Somebody asked me what would I do if he got reelected and I simply said: I’m just going to get high every day. Because what’s the point?
