My redbook CDs (44.1) played in my CD player through the same system I stream through sound better than the same hi-res tracks when I stream them on Qobuz and they're at 96 and 192 most of the time. For whatever reason, on Qobuz, the hi-res versions do usually sound better than the lower res versions do though

The older I get, the less I want to fiddle with records and the more I want to play my CDs. Used CDs are actually the best bang for the buck right now. They're out of fashion

Yeah that's what I've noticed on Qobuz, that the hi res tracks are different masters but 96 should still be fine on the 192 tracks. The hi res tracks don't always sound better than the hi-res ones though. The Who "Tommy" album is a good example of this. They use a different mastering on the CD quality version of it and it sounds better than the hi-res version

Since your iMac is kinda old, did you have to change your Qobuz output settings or will it process 24/192?

There's definitely a law of diminishing returns that applies when it comes to spending money on stereo equipment. Especially with a DAC. I mostly stick with vintage gear and repair what I can. I've found it's the best bang for the buck. It helps that a lot of my stuff has been given to me by my customers

@Diceyocean Your computer has a DAC in it that processes the digital source then converts it to analog before it outputs through the aux. If you don't have high end revealing speakers and you're just playing mp3 files, YouTube or Spotify music through your computer, you most likely won't notice any difference. If you ever decide you want an inexpensive DAC with decent sound, get an SMSL SU-1 for $80

Good story you'll enjoy. I learned a little Spanish back when I did some prison time in the 90s. A lot of joints I built time in, my choices were to talk to niggers or Mexicans due to none of my people being there. I chose the latter.
FF to present day Guatemalan influx coming to my barbershop. Most of them are pretty nice, working in factories but can't speak a lick of English and don't bother to learn. Just show me pics of how they want their hair cut.
There's one exception. Dude named Martin. Real shitbird. Comes in every week, wanting some high heeled sock of a complicated cut and he's barking orders at me in Spanish the whole time I'm cutting his hair like I'm his bitch. I don't need this shit. I have plenty of business so I decided to nip it in the bud about a month ago. I must've pissed him off because he hasn't been back since.
I told him "Yo se lo que estoy haciendo. Ok amigo? Mira! Esta aqui en mi maquina. Soy El Maestro. En ingles es The Master."

Due to my profession and the area where I live, I have my finger on the pulse of the average conservative American.
I can report that the media campaign has been successful. Every single one of them are obsessed with and outraged by the college protesters. And they completely associate any anti-Israel views with anti-Americanism now.
I haven't heard one word about the antisemitism bill or that the Biden administration is gonna import Palestinian refugees to the US. If that's on your radar, you live in a bubble. The average Trump supporting normie has no idea any of that is happening. They are glued to the coverage of the protests like it's the Super Bowl
