I was always under the impression that *key is one of the worst fedi software to use
but then I switched to pleromer and have been enduring soapbox ever since
do the devs ever test their software or are they too busy being terrible people 😭

luckily i remember all the distros I make, and this isnt one of them
its most likely a custom kernel that i built previously and forgot to remove the boot entry from

I do still see some potential in IRC but it'd really take quite a bit of effort to make it user friendly enough to make it compete with discord tbh

like no shit they sell messages, that's not surprising at all
literally no one uses this platform because they think it's good, it's just the only platform that does it in a somewhat usable way
you won't get anywhere by yelling at discord users to switch to "failed to decrypt message", if you want to make people stop using discord then first introduce a usable alternative
