I expected it.
I was in the art sphere before and i knew that artists are massive elitist exclusionary conservative dickwards.
Tbh i was one when i started to draw 10 years ago, i constantly provoked mile-long holywars about it.

What i didn't expected is the scale of this backlash, gatekeeping and hostile action.

If you think of image generators and other AIs, the reason is probably because they are often advertised as some kind of wish-fulfilling magic wand rather than a tool that requires reading the fucking manual before use 🤔
