It can access 4 gigabytes of physical memory, or up to 64 terabytes of virtual memory. Intel spent US$100 million in development costs.

Production was halted in January 1997, Be sold around 1,800 66 BeBoxes.

@techokami 'open' used to mean something else back then, it did not mean open source, but an open api. meaning everybody was able to make add-ons, extend the functionality, etc.
yes, there were systems that not even have their api's available for everybody. companies like IBM didn't even allow anybody else to create *ware that interacted/connected to their systems at all. that is where the name 'open systems' came from.
@codewiz why it's still not open source is just beyond me, the devs aren't getting paid anyway, it can barely keep this company afloat, it's just a mess. And who knows what will happen to amigaos once hyperion goes bankrupt.
