This was nice to see in the NYT for a change, but it was buried in a somewhat obscure section. election.
"Trump and Vance Took Questions on Child Care. Their Non-Answers Said a Lot."
Had this been Harris or Walz making the identical rambling, nonsensical, non-response to a direct question on child care, it would have been blaring headline news that would've been hammered on how unfit they are to hold high office all the way to the election.

The popular vote is how all other elections in this country are decided.
In 2016, Trump lost by 3 million votes, and 2020 he lost by 7 million votes. This year he may lose by 12 million votes...or more.
Yet the election, like the others, is still likely to be close. A rather glaring problem with our presidential electoral system, isn't it.
If the Democrats get control of the Congress and the WH, this needs to be changed.

To another adviser, Trump was blunt about taking on Harris: “I’m going to be mean.”

With the DNC starting tomorrow, I took note of one glaring aspect. Both parties traditionally feature former presidents from their party as a speaker endorsing the candidate, and the DNC continues that with Clinton and Obama as featured speakers along with Biden. Conspicuous by their absence at the RNC was the previous republican president or vice presidents, all of whom are still alive.
Speaks volumes on the state of the republican party.

Mitch McConnell issued this "dire warning" to republican state legislators...
"Let's assume our worst nightmare: The Democrats went to the White House, the House, the Senate. The first thing they'll do is get rid of the [Senate] filibuster."
Weird how he didn't have any problem eliminating the filibuster on SC nominations in 2017.
