Jesus Christ I hate boss fights.
(currently giving Control a second chance after I gave up on my first playthrough because combat loops that last 15+ minutes aren't really my jam)

@glassbottommeg Cunning. I would definitely get nothing but a toothache from being forced to listen to Backstreet Boays.
Anyway, fuck Putin, Russia needs to be stopped and preferably broken up into smaller countries. We should have joined this war on the side of Ukraine long ago, but I usually don't say that out loud because I wouldn't be risking my life at the frontline if we did.
Also, my (Ukrainian) subtenant is moving out soon, so I'm going to keep the spare room available in case of refugees.
This flat already saw about a dozen refugees back in 2022 (all of them on their way elsewhere, hence short stays). Europe's such a peaceful continent, isn't it?
I asked him if it's time to start taking lessons at a shooting range and he said no. He did say it's time to start thinking about stocking up on supplies and fresh water, since limited infrastructure attacks are the most likely. He isn't ruling mobilisation out.
When I was 19, conscription was still there, so I have a mobilisation category assigned. In my case it's category D, meaning I'm considered unfit for duty for health reasons and cannot be drafted at peace time.
I also can't learn first aid (most of it makes me faint/puke), so I feel pretty useless.
Back when we were fighting a different kind of conflict (one without much violence, against an authoritarian government, it was mostly street protests) I discovered I'm good at organisation and team leadership, so if things get ugly I'll probably try to get involved with civil defence.
Talked to a friend yesterday - a sensible guy who has a crucial experience advantage over me, namely he was in the army at one point (as a volunteer).
Given the media reports and his intuition, he thinks Russian attacks on Poland in the Autumn are plausible.
@emil My bet for the opening of the third line is 2040. :-)
And I agree pet projects aren't meant to be productive, although in this case I'm also hoping to be able to sell it to at least some people at some point, so retaining some semblance of rationality would be nice.
My pet project is kind of, sort of set in Warsaw (700 years in the future, so Warsaw as we know it is no longer there). I'm now walking down the rabbit hole of figuring out where on the map the events from the main plot take place.
Not very productive (I mean, who cares), but it's Sunday.
End of first reduced (three-day) week. I didn't get as much done as I'm used to, which is natural given that I only had three days - but the stress is still there. I'm going to have to get used to this.
Tomorrow I still need to take care of some overdue matters, so I don't expect to work much on my own stuff just yet.
Day one of part-time work: the client isn't complaining (for now). I spent the whole weekend resting, don't feel like doing anything in particular today, but that's fine, I had planned for this. Meanwhile stuff at work is slowly piling up, so tomorrow's going to start with me poking that pile.
(I switched to 3/5 recently, because I want to do a personal project in parallel and apparently I also hate money; I consider it an experiment in sustainability)
@skjeggtroll @cstross Thomas the tank engine Isekai'd into Jabba's pod racing circuit.
@nathell Such a sweet idea. 🙂
@glassbottommeg I played it as a kid, but only a little, since my English wasn't up to the task at the time. Genuinely felt like it might have a great atmosphere, though.
Things I like about my job: coming up with new gameplay, implementing features, composing assets, fiddling with the balance, watching the players enjoy the result.
Things I hate about my job: that moment when the initial version is done and now I have to test it and find out that it doesn't work.
@bluewinds There's also Thronefall, which takes a more organic approach. I liked it, but it expects you to optimize a lot, and I found it to be a bit trial-and-error on that front. Looks stunning, though.
@bluewinds There's a bunch of games in a series called "Gemcraft". The first one or two definitely started out as web games, but they're all on Steam now. One of the better balanced instances of the genre with a fairly grim fantasy story layered on top. Definitely on the slower side (incl. you can pause) but still fairly intense.
Twitter incels: some old guy in his late 20s told us big boobs are sexy, so now we're going to throw a tantrum every time a video game character doesn't have them.
bsky HoNs: hooves. cat ears. belly fat. all hairstyles you can imagine. tattoos. piercings. muscles. more muscles. hips that could birth an aircraft carrier. and also boobs
You've already heard such Polish bangers as "kurwa" and "not my circus, not my monkeys", but have you heard of "to jebnie"? Pronounced "toe yebnyeh", it describes the feeling of dreadful anticipation when someone has fucked around and is just about to find out.
(don't use in front of your babcia)
Game designer, mostly. Knows how to make a custom editor in Unreal, write jokes in a foreign language, track police movements across a large city, and publicly scold an abusive party leader.
