So weird.

Alaska Air wouldn't let me check in online because...they'd also stuck us on the next day's flight without telling us. They hadn't pulled the original flight off the PNR. There were no notes about the change.

The very nice reservations agent pulled us off the next-day flight, so we were able to check in and get boarding passes for our original flight, which is oversold.

I wonder if this was A) Alaska protecting us onto the next flight and flubbing it or B) a prelude to bumping us.

Woke up to a text saying our flight was cancelled, an email offering us $950 a head to rebook to another day and me being moved to the last row of the plane, but my wife and son having no assignable seats.

It's gonna be a great day!

I bet they were trying to protect us onto Thursday's flight and did it wrong :/

Meanwhile

Got them seats. It took multiple calls and I had to pay for premium class to grab one of them. Now one of us can’t be checked in

And Alaska has posted a 40 minute departure delay, but a two hour arrival delay. Our aircraft’s current flight is still on the ground, 3 hours and 35 minute delayed.

This both explains why our inbound aircraft hasn’t taken off yet, and makes me worry about the state of math education in America

The app and I have very similar feels today.

That’s a new failure mode for me. One of our boarding passes had a gender mismatch with id (everybody in the party is cis), either due to an auto fill blunder on my part or due to one of the 4 times the ticket got reissued. TSA went full Gandalf “You shal not pass” and made us get the ticket reissued. It didn’t work. They scanned it four more times, gave up, and waved us through.

It looks like tonight’s flight is ending up as the rarest of birds: a US domestic westbound red-eye.

Boarded AS 347 FLL-SFO.

Pushed back.

Oh fun. The aircraft’s APU is inop.

There sure a lot of people on this flight coughing.
