And we’re rolling now. I had to temporarily disable the pi-hole running on my network for the MacBook to contact the licensing server (which is dumb because I had the OS on the USB) but it’s installing.

I just also had to remember to extract BaseSystem.dmg out of the MacOS install app. I’d forgotten that step and was having a rough time writing the boot media to USB.

@System32 Intel. Great deal (saw them online going to $150-$200 still). Didn’t decipher password. Just reset it with terminal. :-)

I picked up a 2018 MacBook Pro for $40 today from a second hand store that sells merchandise from storage units they purchase. They were selling it so cheap because “we don’t know computers and it has a password”.

I got past the password in 5 minutes once I got it home. Then booted into recovery and blew away Macintosh HD (no Find My Mac encountered yet). I’m in the process of making a MacOS flash drive to get that installed again, then go from there. Fun little project so far.

@HereToChewGum I don’t have any problem with Tyson taking the fight. Personally, I wanted what all other boxing fans wanted - to see Tyson knock out Jake Paul. But that never happened. Jake’s a decent boxer but the fights are so strategically scheduled that I can’t take him seriously.

I hope the NFL is reconsidering having their Christmas games on Netflix because tonight’s boxing event was riddled with streaming issues. I have a feeling WAY more people will watch football with their family on Christmas Day than were trying to watch a 58 year old former world champion fight a YouTube star tonight.

I’m reviewing some documentation for a new vendor appliance that’s needed. The documentation says they need a domain admin account. For a single appliance? Uhh…no.

@btp For me, I just had to stop cold. Now I find that I don’t even really use Mastodon a lot either, which is a bit sad since there are many cool people here.

@btp Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m chronically online too but once I got out from under the Twitter algorithm, I found I didn’t really miss it.

@btp @btp.dev I want to use my Bluesky account more. But for some reason I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’ve grown comfortable with the “social media every once in a while” path I found after I dumped Twitter/Facebook years ago.

Mastodon is benefitting from the #X exodus (eXodus?) too: The official app downloads are up 47% on iOS and 17% on Android. Sign-ups are up approx. 27% compared to previous month with about 90K new accounts, while the MAU has jumped to 894K (across all Mastodon servers).
