I got to say, they're getting progressively shittier (and more like a big bank).

An #NGO in #Japan has been dealing with weeks of criticism & turmoil for having a foreign logo in a presentation they submitted to the government.

The reason? Essentially, copying & pasting of copyrighted images & not realizing they were watermarked. It could have been avoided w/ some basic #data and #security practices.

- Only use #CreativeCommons or your own photos/images/graphics.
- Clear metadata from any images you share publicly.
- Share PDFs, not powerpoints.

Does #Microsoft #Word no longer allows people to open .ODT files? Have, a few times, had to safe .ODT files as .DOCX via LibreOffice so that Word users could open it.

.ODT is an open source file format, so its a deliberate choice for Word to not be compatible.

Why do people pay for a shitty product that lacks such basic functionality?

I meet, in Japan, many people who care about #Ukraine but not #palestine.

Among too many Asian so-called "leftists," those are care about #Gaza but not Ukraine.

And, sadly, people everyone who care about either of those situations, but don't care about #Papuans #Uyghurs #Tibetans #Kashmiris or others facing oppression in Asia.

Sometimes I reach out to an #NGO for an interview, and they often offer some white guy in #Europe.

In this case, I asked can I speak with your Indonesia staffperson instead? They...don't seem so keen. After a few days of back & forth, I decide to just reach out to the Indonesian via LinkedIn directly, and he responds within 10 minutes, happy to speak. 🤪

Interesting how the people who go "but China is doing XXX and XXX for solar/wind/EVs!" get suddenly silent when I ask about #Uyghur forced labor in #solar and #EV supply chains.

Somehow, this bothers me even more than the tankies genocide denial.
