Look, for all of you talking about rebuilding/building the village/solidarity, there's something you're going to deal with - the consequences of the pandemic. That's to say, so many people are and were willing to let disabled people die, to do your thing.

You're going to have to prove yourselves TRUSTWORTHY.

The fact is, many of you have proven not to be, and are STILL re-perpetuating ideas and practices that are hundreds of years old, and, dare I say it: reactionary in nature even when dressed up in "progressive" ideals.

(Even progress-as-idea has major unexamined flaws).

You are performing, and have performed, actions which make you untrustworthy. And we see when you don't even CONSIDER that.

Because for all the talk about "including us" there's a whole BUNCH of reasons why disabled people DON'T want to be "included", to be "adjuncts", on the terms of the dominant status quo.

We need to be at the *heart* of the building. We need to be felt in our place at, and as its ROOTS. Where we always were, and are.

Been spending time with one of my favourite words since moving North over 20 years ago.
Nowt: usually easily translated as a dialectal form of" Nothing".

But, dig into the eymology of its fellow "Naught", and what do we find?

"Old English nawiht "nothing," literally "no whit," from na "no" (from PIE root *ne- "not") + wiht "thing, creature, being" (see wight)"

All is wight, nowt is not. See the "animist" implication?

Now, as the saying goes: There's nowt so queer as folk.

My posting on shortform "social media" will always tend to be spastic (like me). Fits and starts because 1. I am chronically verbose. 2. Brain damaged, 3. Jealous of my energies (not envious) and as a crip, I need to direct them towards the processes and enhancing of Life #crip #disability #cripkult

Sleep dep kicks my arse but before I pass out, something I want to suggest off the back of a post of @Wolven about everyone eventually becoming disabled.

Disability is a more-than-human field. It exceeds the human. Human is not the baseline unit. It is not the default, but a form of ontological capture .

People thinking Mastodon is a website, because Twitter was a website is a problem.

Mastodon is no more a website than IRC is a chatroom. Centralised platforms have got folks out of certain habits - to wit, the internet is *run* by protocols.

Having a crap time? Block, mute, seek out an instance that meets your needs and desires. IRC still exists. Email still exists. They've outlasted individual sites *because* they are protocols, of a sort.
