So apparently Dell has utterly locked down fan control on the XPS 13 9370. This means that despite having a completely functional Linux fan control setup and having created a much saner fan curve based on temperatures, I can't actually use it because the BIOS will override it.

This can't be disabled.

You know how insufferable people always bring up that "WeLl AksHuaLlY macOS is UNIX!!1!!"

Setting aside it's only UNIX 03-certified, there are some major caveats to macOS' UNIX certification. There's a little appendix all the way at the very fucking end of Apple's conformance statement, and it's a fucking doozy. In order for macOS 15.0 to pass all of the required test suites and be UNIX 03-certified, you need to:

• enable core file generation
• disable System Integrity Protection
• disable timeout coalescing (it causes bugs)
• enable the root user (disabled by default)

I have a small Core i3 mini PC here. How about a Tribblix desktop? I need a distraction from the HP-UX 11.11 browser fiasco.

I'm learning NixOS and okay so this kind of is really cool? Once I have all my applications installed through configuration.nix and make any other possible changes I can just copy and back-up that file and use it anywhere else, even other machines?
