Theme designers for both GNOME and KDE make icons more recognisable, colour schemes for every unique set of eyes and ambient light, buttons more readable, menus easier to parse, window controls clearer to discover, and so much more.

Imagine doing all that work and then have it receive nothing but derision.

Theming is accessibility, and with such a renewed focus on accessibility in open source desktops, we really need to have a serious conversation about it again.

New Fedora installer is nice. My systems were all installed with the old one so this is my first time seeing the new one.

Next time you mindlessly boost these link aggregation blog posts from these big names, please actually look at what you're boosting, because I will block you, no matter how on good terms you think we are.

Let me be extremely clear and leave no room for doubt: if you, in any way, promote the fash X.org fork, the usual suspects championing it, or projects adopting it, you're out. On OSNews, that means a ban on your account or publication. On my timeline, that means a block.

My great uncle was executed by the nazis for being in the resistance during the brutal nazi occupation of The Netherlands. My grandfather was rounded up and shipped to Germany at the end of the war to perform slave labour, and had to walk home after the war from Berlin. It damaged him beyond repair, which affected everyone in his family, including my mother. And yet, these stories are merely mild examples of what the nazis did to my flawed but deeply beloved home country and its people. Nowhere else was the percentage of murdered Jewish people as high as in The Netherlands.

So excuse me if I am not interested in discussion, leniency, or warnings. Even to someone like me, born in 1984, what the nazis did was part of my upbringing, my life, my psyche. I will not allow myself to contribute in any way, shape, or form, to the spreading of such ideas.

People are more than capable of switching operating systems. About 95% of reasons given why e.g. a Mac user can't switch to Linux are pure bullshit, and the remaining 5% are small niggles you get used to in a few days.
