@withaveeay Excuse me butting cheekily in, but it seems to this distant onlooker like one might save energy by loading the fuel into the car, driving that to the house, then unloading it again there?

Chris Cooke (baz@mastodon.scot)'s status on Monday, 15-Jul-2024 06:37:18 JST Chris Cooke I just finished Searoad by Ursula Le Guin. It’s stories, set in a little seaside town in Oregon through the 20th century, and related, like the townsfolk. The women in particular survive the various cruelties and ups and downs of that century. “Sleepwalkers” and “Bill Weisler” are both stunning, but they’re all good, and the combined effect is quite something. Do read it, if you can find a copy.

Chris Cooke (baz@mastodon.scot)'s status on Monday, 13-Nov-2023 17:41:10 JST Chris Cooke We were surprised and delighted yesterday to find lots and lots of redshanks clinging to the very steep outside of the harbour wall yesterday. It was cold but sunny; they must have been glad of the warmth, while they waited for low tide, when they’d be able to swarm on to the tidal sands and get something to eat. This is just some of them; there were a lot more.
