@lain You are not being attacked or anything. Entitled to your own opinions and tastes. Some people I know say she's great, and I've only watched that one Earthsea miniseries adaptation (not all of it) and that one Miazaki Earthsea adaptation, and you know how almost all adaptations are terrible adaptations... that's all.

@lain No, lain, I really am asking that question. Why do they keep falling off? Why is that USA aeroplane company rotting? I keep seeing people talk about this or that tattletale getting suicided for talking about his aeroplane company on various networks.

@lain Something about the latest version of this section on the Wikipedia article is very funny. Just the short sentence:

    "There is a Japanese version.[2]"

      Vacuum Diagrams
Vacuum Diagrams is a collection of science fiction short stories by British writer Stephen Baxter. The collection connects the novels of the Xeelee Sequence and also shows the history of mankind in the Xeelee universe, and ultimately the universe. While each short story in the collection is self-contained, the stories are presented as being contained in the context of the first story, "Eve", about a man (seemingly Jack Raoul from the portion of the timeline concerned with the Silver Ghosts) who is forced to witness the events in the short stories by a god-like being. "Eve" acts as a structure for the short stories, with an introduction at the beginning of Vacuum Diagrams, short scenes occurring between each "era" (with "Eve" character explaining and introducing the next section), and an ending that wraps up the plot for the "Eve" story itself. Vacuum Diagrams won the Philip K. Dick Award in 1999. At the end of the collection, a chronology of the Xeelee Sequence is provided. Every short story and book from the cycle (up to 1997) is noted, with notable events from each story plotted. "Vacuum Diagrams...

@lain The Corwin Saga I loved for its descriptions of Shadow and Pattern walking, it felt like he had first hand knowledge of such "emergent phenomena". The way scenery is described, it felt as if Zelazny was drawing with words one of those traditional minimalist Chinese or Japanese paintings. I didn't think the story itself or the characters were very interesting. The characters all spoke in the same way and felt a bit one dimensional, but they live in an interesting strange world.

The Merlin Saga I just can't stop reading. It's an whodunit pageturner. The main characters talk in a conventional way and each has their own personality. Also, Merlin seems like a mellow kind of guy. Him and Jasra?! That's the most mellowest way anyone was ever depicted in fiction. Oh, and Mandor seems like the stereotypical charming white haired bishounen, like Raistlin or Griffith. I just hope he won't go there… Don't tell me anything, I don't want to know.

Sorry for the scroll. Have a nice day.

@lain Almost finishing The Chronicles of Amber. Started reading Lord of Light a while back but got stuck when he got to the city of gods, right before the marriage ceremony. PKD's UBIK made me feel horrid for a while just thinking about it, existential dread and all that. Should I read Deus Irae anyway?
