The timeline for this project is next to go to Urban Design Committee, with more refined plans. Sometime in the next 2-4 weeks. Might be 2-3 meetings with UDC. Then another neighborhood meeting, maybe a couple of months from now. Then they do the final submission to the planning department.

They're hoping for approvals by fall and break ground in the spring, and then 14 months on construction.

Matt has a couple of questions from the abutters, who want to know if the soil needs to be amended or addressed.

The neighbors also want to know what'll happen to the billboard. Developer says the billboard will go away.

Matt comments that this is really near the highway, and he'd like to see air quality control and air filtration systems in the building.

I agree -- air filtration is super important, but particularly near the highway, I want to see air filtration systems in the building as well as thought put into air flow. That's the other reason why I pressed on the balcony issue earlier.

And we're done until the next one. Fast meeting, but they're still early in the process (and have probably been already in progress for at least 6 months to get to this point, for context).

Oh, also, I did get a screenshot of the initial design of the outside of the building. It looks dark and slightly industrial, but not terrible. I'd be up for living here, especially with the plan for a green roof.

I grew these beans last summer. Times like these, it feels good to have done something with my own hands, and to have stored it up for winter cold. You know who are awesome? Librarians. I put in a request 5 weeks ago to see if we can get a scanned copy of a library book so that I can run it through text-to-speech software and read it for a paper I'm writing. Accessibility, right? My wrists hurt (a lot), and this helps.

The librarians got pushback from the publisher on scanning 4 chapters b/c that's more than 20% of the book. Potential violation of copyright. Needed for access.

So they bought the fucking ebook for me. #accessibility #ally

While researching a thing I'm writing, I found this 2019 psych study on how debt relief improves cognitive function for poor people by 1/4 of a standard deviation. That is a LOT.
