So we're entering yet another round, this time apparently with the support of Peter Thiel (Palantir) who is probably hoping for substantial financial gain from fat governmental contracts.

There is an ethical aspect, too - if you can call it that. Germany already has endured two totalitarian regimes which both relied on total surveillance as a means to control the people. Unfortunately it's not a given that enough people care enough about that anymore.

Well, not exactly. It's called court for a reason. It's not "just" an ethical comission or some philosphers' debating society.

The point is that the European Court decision is surpassed by national legislation of the EU member states.
But data retention and backdooring citizens' computers both have been outlawed by the German supreme court (Bundesverfassungsgericht), too. The former for several times already.

Also auf ein Neues. Ist ja auch erst das fümmundrölfzigste Mal.

Ein Bundesland, das von der "AfD mit Substanz" regiert wird und in dessen Polizeibehörde mglw. die Personen hinter dem "NSU 2.0" beschäftigt sind, ist ja genau die richtige Spielwiese, um das volle polizeistaatliche Überwachungsarsenal aus VDS und Palantir (allein der Name!) an den Start zu bringen.
