The most meaningful resistance to fascism will come from grassroots social movements led by the people most impacted
We @fight will do our part as part of that broader movement: fighting for tech to be a tool for liberation, not tyranny

it should be even more obvious now that there are clear use cases for private, censorship-resistant ways to transfer money.
it should also be obvious that "crypto industry" grifters who are backing trump don't give two shits about that & are cozying up to fascists for profit
with all love and respect to my friends that work there, big orgs like the ACLU have enough fucking money. if you're going to rage / panic donate today, please give to small frontline orgs that directly serve and are led by the communities most impacted. https://www.fightforthefuture.org/news/2024-11-06-rage-give-to-frontline-orgs-not-the-big-national-groups/
You can't vote to end genocide. You can't vote to abolish police. You can't vote to stop the climate crisis. We do not have a system that allows for that.
But you can vote to impact, in a small way, the battle ground that liberatory social movements fight on. And that matters.
i've been avoiding all this mess because i have a lot going on and i doubt my platform will matter much here, but FWIW:
I'm an anarchist, an abolitionist, and a radical leftist.
I also vote and encourage others to vote. I believe in harm reduction and strategic action.
Here's our statement.
#KOSA was a bad bill. I'm glad it's dead. But i can't rest easy because Big Tech is still getting away with murder
We need privacy and antitrust legislation NOW
BREAKING: #KOSA is officially dead in the House.
It's infuriating how much time was wasted on a flawed, unconstitutional & controversial bill that was destined to fail, when we could have passed strong privacy or antitrust
& KOSA will be back. Stay tuned http://BadInternetBills.com
This is directly from Project 2025.
It equates LGBTQ content with pornography & calls for people who distribute it to be jailed.
Bills like #KOSA would empower a Trump FTC to suppress content by claiming it's "harmful to kids."

The dangerous censorship bill known as the Kids Online Safety Act (#KOSA) just passed the Senate.
This bill will make kids less safe by giving the government power to dictate what content younger users can see online.
We can still stop it in the House: http://StopKOSA.com
URGENT: Please boost this for awareness among people who care about human rights & LGBTQ safety
The US Senate is voting on #KOSA today, the dangerous Kids Online Safety Act.
It won't protect kids. It's a censorship bill.

I spoke with NPR's morning edition about why hundreds of parents of trans kids are begging Congress to consider alternatives to the dangerous and misguided Kids Online Safety Act (#KOSA), which the Senate is voting on today https://www.npr.org/2024/07/30/nx-s1-5056195/its-taken-2-years-to-get-the-kids-online-safety-act-to-this-point
The Senate is debating KOSA (the dangerous "protect the kids" censorship bill) on the floor RIGHT NOW
It's likely to pass the Senate, but we have a great chance of killing it in the House if lots of people speak out right now

NEW: my colleague Anna and I have a piece in Them today telling the story of how LGBTQ youth have led the charge against the dangerous and misguided Kids Online Safety Act (#KOSA), but have largely been dismissed and ignored by Democratic lawmakers who claim to protect them https://www.them.us/story/kids-online-safety-act-kosa-youth-lgbtq-content
BREAKING: Schumer is moving to a floor vote on the dangerous and misguided Kids Online Safety Act.

RIGHT NOW: We've parked a billboard truck outside the House E&C Committee hearing displaying comments from young people and parents who oppose dangerous censorship bills like #KOSA and want lawmakers to actually address the harms of Big Tech. https://www.fightforthefuture.org/news/2024-05-22-listen-to-kids-billboard-outside-house-hearing-raises-up-voices-of-lgbtq-youth-who-oppose-kosa/
Alright, it's official. The dangerous & misguided Kids Online Safety Act (#KOSA) will go to a "mark up" vote in the House Energy & Commerce Committee this morning, Thursday, May 23. THIS IS JUST A SUBCOMMITTEE VOTE. WE CAN STILL STOP OR FIX THIS BILL! https://www.stopkosa.com
Ban facial recognition, not TikTok
This feels like SESTA/FOSTA all over again. But we still have a chance to stop it. Please keep sounding the alarm.

I spoke to @drewharwell at the Washington Post about the FTC slamming Rite Aid for using facial recognition on shoppers without their knowledge or consent.
“stop using discriminatory and invasive facial recognition now, or get ready to pay the price.”
