I think one of the reasons privileged people can be such jerks is because people are generally unable to perceive that which lies outside of their own experiences. So when they see someone who's really suffering, they just assume they're weak. "I don't suffer, so why should THEY?"

That's why people tend to despise those of us living with depression. They see us as weak because, in their minds, they believe everyone around them is as privileged as they are. They actually cannot see other people's experiences, ony a mirror reflecting their own experiences back at them.

When it's finally shaping up to be a sunny day after ten days of unceasing torrential rain and you want to play outside, but it’s Monday morning and you have to sit behind a computer and "make a living."

Regarding the whole bear meme that's going around the internet, I'll say this much: I've been backpacking all around the world solo, and have gone on extensive trips in the wilderness where bears exist, including the entire Appalachain Trail and Olympic National Park amd Olympic National Forest. I've encountered plenty of bears and plenty of men while alone at night, and the bears were always, always less threatening to me. Not because men are powerful or anything like that, of course, but because of their behaviour and potential motives.

The men who are protesting need to learn to shut up and listen.

The less I have to do with people, the better off I am. Not one person asked how the biopsy went even though I told them I was expecting the results early this week. Sigh. To be expected, of course.

All I really need is a cocker spaniel (this one isn't mine, btw) and an empty stretch of beach as as far as the eye can see.

Sometimes I think I'll be OK, but then people happen and I lose all hope again.

Had to go back out into the natural world because of people, and was relieved to bump into a couple of my buddies.

I don't mean to alarm anyone, but the lorikeets have been assembling in the park all morning and afternoon, and are now in the phalanx formation and headed towards the city.

They look fell. I fear they have risen up to storm the cities while we are weak and dispersed.

One day I muttered "holy cow" while browsing music videos on YouTube, and the algorithm was like "we've got a live one here, boys!" and ever since then, YouTube has been inundating me with videos of people serenading ungulates with accordions and trombones and pan flutes.

This is going to be a terrific day to not do a single goddamn thing I don’t feel like doing.
