You remember #Nokia n-gage, the #Symbian based game console/phone, from two decades ago? When making a phone call, you'd hold it sideways to your ear. This was called "sidetalking" and ridiculed.

Nowadays, I see a lot of people holding their mobile phones in the front of their mouth as if it was a sandwich, or holding the bottom speakers to their ear.

You know, Nokia wasn't being ridiculous, they were just ahead.

Paraphrasing Clarke, any sufficiently advanced fashion is indistinguishable from looking silly.
