Please stop with the floating elements on websites. They're hiding your content, and make me want to leave!

No, I don't want to "swipe to the next article" if there's also gonna be a giant floating arrow hiding the text and make me want to stop reading the one I'm painfully trying to read right now.

No, I don't want to "donate" if I can't even fully read what your organization is about because of all those buttons floating over your content.

The goal is to show your content! Why hiding it with a bajillion arrows, buttons, and popups? And please test your website for small mobile display. Your floating elements are ENORMOUS there 😭

@TimWardCam Agreed, although I don't think this is serving their goal of making money either, which usually requires at minimum people stay on the website and share links to it.

Today, 37 years ago, was the Tiananmen Square massacre in Beijing.

    Remember these events.
Remember these people who fought for freedom and democracy.
    This is important 💛☂️

"On the 30th anniversary of the protests in 2019, the well-known Chinese artist Ai Weiwei wrote that 'autocratic and totalitarian regimes fear facts because they have built their power on unjust foundations' and he also wrote that memory is important: 'without it there is no such thing as a civilised society or nation' because 'our past is all we have.'"

1989 Tiananmen Square protests and massacre
Protests led by students and workers, known in China as the June Fourth Incident, were held in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China, from 15 April to 4 June 1989. After weeks of unsuccessful attempts between the demonstrators and the Chinese government to find a peaceful resolution, the Chinese government initiated martial law in late May and deployed troops to occupy the square on the night of 3 June in what is referred to as the Tiananmen Square massacre. The events are sometimes called the '89 Democracy Movement, the Tiananmen Square Incident, or the Tiananmen uprising. The Chinese government terms the events the political turmoil between the spring and summer of 1989. The protests were initiated by the death of former pro-reform Chinese Communist Party (CCP) general secretary Hu Yaobang in April 1989, amid the backdrop of rapid economic development and social change in post-Mao China. The movement's goals reflected anxieties among the people and political elite about the nation's future. Common grievances at the time included inflation, corruption, dismantling of the ...

Last year for Pride I wrote a series
of articles at the intersection of privacy and LGBTQ+ experiences :rainbow_heart: 🔒

Data privacy is important for everyone. But for some marginalized populations, data privacy is indispensable for social connection, access to information, and physical safety.

Here are 3 articles published with Privacy Guides last year discussing this topic from different angles:

The Importance of Data Privacy For The Queer Community

    Stay Safe, but Stay Connected

Queer Dating Apps: Beware Who You Trust With Your Intimate Data

Just so you know, using an AI notetaker during a meeting without priorly asking for consent from all participants before starting it breaches many if not most privacy laws around the world.

In certain cases, it can even breach two-party consent laws, and be a criminal act.

Ideally, never use these privacy-invasive tools ever. But if you do use them, you must ask for everyone's consent first, and respect their choice fully if they refuse to be recorded.

Anyone asserting encryption is a tool for crime is either painfully misinformed or is attempting to manipulate legislators to gain oppressive power over the people.

    Encryption is not a crime,
    encryption is a shield.

Encryption protects you from cyberattack, identity theft, discrimination, doxxing, stalking, sexual violence, physical harm, and much more.

For safety, for privacy, for democracy, and for all our human rights, it's critical that we defend our right to encryption.
