Caitlin Clark shreds Michael Che’s sexist jokes about women’s sports, and gives a shoutout to players who came before her. As a woman working in sports, the “go back to the kitchen/apron” jokes always struck me as the lamest. First because I knew sports better than 99% of guys saying this, so if someone was going to the kitchen, it would’ve been them. Second, you can’t be more creative than that?
The NCAA Championship in women’s basketball tonight is even airing in Spanish along with in English! Wow, when I worked for ESPN Deportes a few years ago, it was the first time the NCAA Championship in 🏈 aired in Spanish. #caitlinclark#Hawkeyes#MarchMadness#ncaaw#basketball
@joeo10 I actually read that it’s the companies who have cargo on the ship that will pay damages, according to ancient maritime law that had it not be ship owners so those on the ship wouldn’t fight over whose cargo to throw overboard! I know this sounds wild but … Not saying there won’t be any taxpayer costs 🙃 but in theory should be paid mostly by companies with cargo onboard
A public school English teacher for 40+ years, almost all in Milwaukee; she was an active volunteer, supporter of community & school programs, worked in security & as Director of Drivers at Summerfest; and an avid traveler, visiting countries from China to Switzerland to Egypt & often visiting NYC for Broadway shows. #life#death
When we would have big family gatherings at holidays on my grandma’s farm, she would be up hours before anybody else, corral the kids to get ready for trips to the library or fitness center or swimming pool in town (sometimes in her convertible). If I said I was bored, she told me that “boring people get bored, so I must be boring” (I learned from that and am almost never bored). (In pics, I’m the older kid looking mischievous) #family#life#death
One story told last night by the director of Project Concern, a food pantry she volunteered at: a few years ago, she told him she had to stop volunteering for health reasons (cancer treatment plus Parkinson’s). 14 months later, one morning he arrived and she was there. She had never turned in her key. He knew she was not one for fuss or sentimentality, so simply asked what she was doing. She said, peeling potatoes. And that was that, she volunteered a few days a week until the week she died.
@joeo10 potentially. I certainly see why one would, yet it’s also challenging to move platforms regularly and not know when same thing could happen somewhere else.
@gnutelephony@daico I don’t think we are forgetting it, I would rather prepare and take action instead of assuming it won’t happen. I have underestimated the threat of Trump at almost every point, prefer not to continue doing that. Also the headline on the article is bad and not in line with the gist of the article, which doesn’t say inevitable.
Track me on the Medio Maratón Valencia app tomorrow! I know that’s what you all want to do with your Sunday morning, or your sleeping hours if in the U.S. 🤣🤣🤣 #Running#halfmarathon#Carrera#valencia
This is a heartbreaking read on the war in Israel and Gaza. Written by an Israeli journalist who lives near Gaza border, & survived with wife & 2 young kids in safe room amid attacks. Many, many innocent people will die on both sides. It’s a tragedy some treat like a football game.
