Our petition to make #FOSDEM Junior fully free, open, self-determined, and privacy-first has been received by @fosdem .

While the Raspberry Pi Foundation outright refused to even talk to us, the FOSDEM representative sympathised with our campaign and promised to raise our concerns within the team.

We offered counseling and support to any extent desired by the crew.

🎬 Ein Besuch bei der Premiere von "Ada & Zangemann"

Seit Mittwoch gibt es die deutschsprachgie Version des Filmes zum Kinderbuch "Ada & Zangemann" von @kirschner und der @fsfe .

Unsere Aktiven Emil (12) und Keno (10) waren für unsere Gemeinschaft dabei und konnten vor Ort auch etwas über ihre SIcht auf unsere Tinkering-Gemeinschaft und ihre Projekte erzählen.

We are currently establishing our own instance for exactly that and already use it with our community of children. It still needs a bit of help before promoting it publicly.

Apart from that, we also offer e-mail, Matrix, XMPP and cloud storage for children.

Most "coding programs for kids" are intended to drive kids into the ecosystems of the sponsoring companies, Scratch and OpenRoberta being two honourable exceptions.

We normally don't use specialized tools with kids – we just use Python and the Thonny editor, or even a terminal editor.

Stop thinking you must use specialized kids toys to teach coding, and most barriers should go away. Make a fun text adventure. Kids can grasp loops, conditions, dictionaries and print/input just fine.
